🏠✨ Disney history comes alive in Los Feliz this Sunday!

The Disney Bros. Cartoon Studio Square Day Block Party returns September 13 from noon–5 p.m., celebrating the neighborhood where Walt and Roy Disney launched their Hollywood adventure in 1923.

🎨 From 12–1:30 p.m., join us for a special community chalk drawing on Kingswell Avenue with three historic Disney homes represented: the Walt Disney Birthplace, the Walt Disney Storybook Mansion, and Uncle Robert’s House, Walt’s first California home and the place where he signed the 1923 contract that gave birth to The Walt Disney Company.

⭐ Joining the fun will be Walt Disney’s granddaughter Joanna and great-grandson Nick, Disney Legends Floyd Norman and Tony Anselmo, Disney animators Mike & Patty Peraza and Rick Farmiloe, Imagineer Javier Soto, plus other artists, Imagineers, and special guests.

🖍️ Grab a piece of chalk, meet Disney family members and some of the talented people who helped shape Disney history, and add your own artwork to the street where it all began.

Those are potentially dangerous conditions for spending a day walking around a theme park, especially with so much of Disneyland outdoors.

If you’re in the parks today, we want to hear from you. What’s it actually like? Are crowds lighter than usual? Are you spending most of the day looking for shade and air conditioning? And perhaps most importantly… are you regretting the decision to go today?

We got an early look at The Keepsake Sea, a new expansion packed with underwater exploration, customizable mermaid forms, pirate ships, salvaging, sea shanties, and some very familiar Disney faces.

🏛️ INDIANA JONES CLOSES TOMORROW: The ride goes down September 8 with no reopening date posted - and that could mean weeks or months!

🎃 OOGIE BOOGIE BASH IS ALMOST GONE: As of Sunday night, there were available tickets for just one party night left, and it’s tomorrow… with one more night for D23 members.

🎨 A REDHEAD MYSTERY: A Marc Davis portrait of the original redhead appeared in the treasure room on Pirates of the Caribbean and then disappeared within days.

🦖 THE DINOSAURS HAVE ROARED BACK TO LIFE: Primeval World reopened after about three months behind walls. We have 4K video for you. 

🚧 THE TICKET BOOTHS ARE COMING DOWN: Two booths at the east end of the Esplanade have been demolished for the new transportation hub, and work has started on a 6,000-space parking structure behind the Harbor Blvd. hotels. We have photos of both related projects! 

🌮 RANCHO DEL ZOCALO HAS NEW FOOD: The Frontierland favorite added six items, including a chicken tostada salad, loaded nachos, and a pair of slushies.

🚨 HALLOWEEN HORROR NIGHTS HOLLYWOOD 🚨
We walked all 8 haunted houses and all the scare zones on opening night. Four of them we'd send you to first.

The big names are all here. Sinners, Stranger Things, Hellraiser, Evil Dead Burn, Killer Klowns from Outer Space, and a house built around Ozzy Osbourne. They're why most people buy a ticket, and two of them landed in our top four.

But it's the original concepts, the houses with no film behind them at all, where Universal really shines this year. They tied for our #3 spot and we were glad to feature both.

🩸 Our #1 effectively starts before you reach the front door. The queue is a full show scene, and plenty of people are happy to linger here, not realizing that there's much more to come.

🦇 Our #2 is a tribute as much as a haunt, with the most varied and gorgeous sets at the event.

🤡 And Art the Clown has taken over the Terror Tram for a very gory Christmas. He's everywhere else in the park too. You are not going to avoid him.

Also in the guide: all six scare zones (two of them are badly oversold and we say so). PLUS the food and merchandise lists, and all the complex ticket and add-on details, including which one you need if you want to ride Hollywood Drift.
