Choose your side. Recruit your people. Prepare for nonsense.

From 12–3 PM Sunday, join the Downtown Anacortes Scavenger Hunt at Open Streets and pick your team — 🦅 Seagull, 🐋 Orca, or 🦌 Deer.

Then get moving. You might find yourself dancing in the street, hunting down Bill Mitchell murals, playing a painted piano, inventing wildly inaccurate local history, showing off your downtown haul, or acting like feral shipyard cats on camera.

This is much more fun with friends, so assemble a crew, chase points, sabotage your own dignity, and see if your team can climb the leaderboard.

Sign up ahead of time so you’re ready to play at noon: https://join.goosechase.com/f09b310d-1b14-431c-b6e0-36f867d675e2

If you need help getting into the game, stop by the Downtown Anacortes Alliance booth starting at 11 AM and we’ll get you set up.

5 weeks to go! 🎨

Ever watched a blacksmith forge metal by hand? Or a painter build up layers of thick, textured impasto? At the 98221 Artist's Studio Tour, you don't just see the finished piece — you see how it came to be.

This year's tour features 35 artists working across painting, pottery, mixed media, blacksmithing, fiber art, and more, spread across 24 studios on Fidalgo Island. Every stop is a little different. Every artist has a story.

Free, self-guided, September 12–13, 10am–5pm. Follow along — we'll start introducing you to the artists soon.

6 weeks out. Mark your calendars. 🍁🎨

If you're anywhere in Western Washington — Seattle, Bellingham, Everett, the Skagit Valley, or beyond — let this be your sign to start planning a trip north.

The 98221 Artist's Studio Tour returns September 12–13, 2026, and it might just be the event that kicks off autumn in the PNW. Free, self-guided, and running 10am–5pm both days, the tour opens the doors to 24 studios and 35 artists scattered across the scenic corners of Fidalgo Island — from Skyline to Cap Sante, Old Town to Mt. Erie.

Wander at your own pace. Watch painters, potters, sculptors, and mixed-media artists at work in the very spaces where they create. Take home something one-of-a-kind, and take home a little bit of island magic while you're at it.

And here's the part we love most: this isn't a day trip, it's an invitation to a weekend. Book a stay, enjoy fresh seafood by the water, wander our quaint downtown shops and galleries, and walk the beach as the September light turns golden. Anacortes has a way of making you want to stay longer than planned.

We'll be counting down the weeks until the tour — follow along for artist spotlights, studio sneak peeks, and everything you need to plan your visit.

6 weeks to go. See you on the island. 🌊

This was my Art Fest demo project this weekend and I can’t wait to see how it comes out of the kiln. Walnut Clay, black engobe, white glaze inlay.
