Performance Feature:
Chaminade's Concertino in Buffalo

Dear friends,

I’m excited to invite you to join me on Sunday, October 18, 2026 at 3:00 PM at Trinity United Methodist Church in Amherst, NY, for a special performance of Cécile Chaminade’s Concertino for flute and orchestra with the Amherst Chamber Ensembles Orchestra.

The program takes a musical journey through France, featuring works by Cécile Chaminade, Louise Farrenc, Gabriel Fauré, and Charles Gounod—an un après-midi magnifique of French music.

Performing Chaminade’s Concertino is especially meaningful to me. It’s a piece that has been part of my musical life for many years, and I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to perform it as part of this beautiful afternoon of French music.

We look forward to welcoming you all back at our upcoming October 18 Orchestra concert featuring flutist Gina Izzo.

We would also like to introduce our new cello section chair Reggie Guo who will be joining us for this 2026-27 season. Let's get to know him better with these interview questions:

1. Where did you grow up?
I was born in Buffalo, New York and grew up in Clarence, New York.

2. How did you choose your instrument? Who helped you?
My older brother also plays the cello and I thought it was the coolest thing ever. I tried playing the violin but after about a month I knew that playing the cello was where my heart was.

3. Who is your favorite composer?
Robert Schumann for the longest time, but Amy Beach has been my recent favorite.

4. What do (or did) you do for a living?
I am currently an IT manager for a healthcare staffing company.

5. What do you enjoy about playing in ACE?
I love having the opportunity to create and share musical experiences.
