I am taking the 'bago out of its garage and dusting it off for a new documentation project, focused on the experiences of New England dance artists during this exceptional period we're living through. Great article on the devaluing of dance through the devaluing of dance criticism. A cycle worth discussing. On dance coverage in The New Yorker: "At present [Joan] Acocella devotes as many words to dance annually as [Arlene] Croce used to on a monthly basis." There are more words in this article on the disappearance of dance criticism than in most articles on dance itself.
