Savage the musical Musical about 1920s Chickasaw star Wanda Savage. 2024 Eugene O’Neill Semifinalist.
49K 🎶streams! She was ahead of her time.

A new musical based on a true story about Chickasaw mother, sharpshooter and silent film star Wanda Savage in the 1920s. She went from being a widowed single mom, to the circus, to Vaudeville, to Hollywood, to a dirty brothel. A redemption story about her loves, losses, fame, regrets, hopes, & survival in a world that chewed her up & spit her out. She knew what she wanted and sacrificed everything to get it.

POV you’ve been writing the same musical since 2017. This is what nine years of development looks like on a Thursday afternoon in midtown. Table read day with Brooke Simpson reading for Wanda Savage.

Along the way: sold-out concerts, national fellowships, grants, residencies, industry recognition, and 68,000+ streams.

But this journey has always been about more than accolades.

It’s about reclaiming a Native story that history tried to erase and creating opportunities for Native artists in musical theatre after generations of exclusion from Broadway and Off-Broadway stages.

The story is ready.

You weren’t supposed to hear this… 🔥”So Hot” a cut song from Savage
the number that opened the doors to the brothel.
Sometimes the hardest thing about writing a musical is letting go of the songs you love.

Some stories demand to be seen, not just told.

Meet my director, Rachel Klein.

Rachel has been an essential part of shaping the world of Savage bringing vision, emotion, spectacle, and heart to this story.

She has an incredible ability to create theatrical worlds that are bold, immersive, and unforgettable, and that’s exactly what this story needs.

We’re building something powerful.
And we’re just getting started.

Savage wasn’t written alone.
Meet co-writer, Lindel Hart.

From the earliest drafts to where the show is now, Lindel has been an essential part of shaping the story, the structure, and the voice of Savage.

This is a story that demands care, intention, research, and truth.
That’s exactly how it’s being built.

We’re just getting started.
Next up: meet the team.

“Savage: The Unconquerable Wanda Savage”
is inspired by Nicolette’s Chickasaw great-grandmother:
A vaudeville sharpshooter and silent film actress whose life was exploited onstage and erased on screen.

Her son was taken from her.
Her identity rewritten.

But she was a warrior.
She was unconquerable.

This is her story.
Next up: meet the rest of the team.
