In past years, as many as 251 tubas and other low brass players came together and played a uniquely wonderful concert of holiday music on the stage of beautiful Stephens Auditorium.
Tuba, euphonium, baritone and sousaphone players - Mark your calendars to participate in the 15th annual Ames TUBACHRISTMAS on Saturday, December 6 again in Stephens Auditorium.
MUSICIAN SCHEDULE for Saturday, December 6
1:00-1:45 pm Registration (doors open for registration at this time)
1:50-2:30 pm Rehearsal
2:30-3:00 pm Break
3:00-4:00 pm Concert (free general admission seating)
THE MUSIC
Carols for a Merry TUBACHRISTMAS music books are required for each player. Photocopies are not permitted per the National TUBACHRISTMAS organization. The four-part large-print music books for bass clef or treble clef are available for $25 at Ames TUBACHRISTMAS Registration. Contact Mike Golemo at [email protected] or 515.291.9341 to purchase a music book prior to the event.
REGISTRATION
There is no advance registration. It’s all done December 6 beginning at 1:00 pm.
Registration requires a tax-deductible contribution of $15 (cash, checks and Venmo). All musicians who register will receive a 2025 TUBACHRISTMAS button (while supplies last).
So your registration process will go more smoothly, go to amestubachristmas.com to print, fill out and bring the 2025 Registration form with you on December 6.
TUBACHRISTMAS HATS, SCARVES AND T-SHIRTS
A limited number of TUBACHRISTMAS hats ($20), scarves ($25), and long-sleeved tee-shirts ($15) will be for sale at Registration. If you would like to purchase a hat or scarf in advance, contact Mike Golemo (cash, check or Venmo only.) Ames TUBACHRISTMAS tee-shirts will be on sale prior to the event at Dogtown University located at 217 Welch Avenue in Campustown.
OTHER INFORMATION FOR MUSICIANS
• All musicians (and parents when appropriate) need to read all the information at amestubachristmas.com.
• Musicians must be 12 years old or older to participate. We ask for parents’ and band directors’ help with this requirement.
• In addition to their instrument, musicians must bring a music stand.
• Musicians are encouraged to decorate their instrument to reflect the spirit of the season.
• Dress is casual and festive.
• Musicians and their families are encouraged to like us on Facebook.
As shared, 251 musicians participated in the 2023 Ames TUBACHRISTMAS. The goal is to have even more players on December 6.
