It's almost opening week of Come From Away and we'd like to invite YOU, the community, to participate alongside us in our 11 Days of Kindness campaign!

Inspired by the spirit of this show, ACTORS is joining the Pay It Forward 9/11 movement.

During the run of our show, from September 10-20, we're challenging our cast, crew, and community to complete 3 acts of kindness and help create a ripple effect of compassion and unity.

Throughout the 11 days, we'll share a few different ways you can show kindness to others, from quick and free ideas, to volunteering your time within the community. You'll also see some videos from our cast members talking about a time when a stranger showed them kindness.

If you'd like, share your act of kindness with us, or on socials, and use , , and so we can see what everyone is doing!

Come From Away demonstrates how an event intended to foment fear, intimidation, and social upheaval ultimately backfired as people came together in a spirit of concern, cooperation, and compassion. Love is more powerful than hate and will ultimately triumph. This musical exemplifies the words of Mother Teresa who said, “We can all do small things, with great love, and together we can do something wonderful."

Cast Introduction: Timothy Berry as Claude and others

What do you hope audiences feel or take away from this show?
I believe Come From Away will come to represent for America’s 250th National Birthday Celebration what the musical 1776 was for America’s Bi-Centennial Celebration. Many people living today don’t remember where they were when the hijacked planes hit the buildings on 9/11-- because they weren’t even born yet! But those were moments in history that began the polarizing cracks in our nation that have brought this country to the divisive position it finds itself in today. However, Come From Away reflects the basic core of kindness of humanity. To come together in times of need. Overcoming fear by knowing that we are ALL better together. Hope that by understanding our differences, there can be a better future of truth and peace. And that while the BIG things still happen – the LITTLE things still have to be attended to with care.

But don't let that stop you from helping us give back to the Ames Community. During our performance weekends, we'll be accepting donations for the Ames Animal Shelter - both monetary and physical items.
