Han Huisman is a native of The Netherlands, now living near Dresser, Wisconsin is a member of artZ Gallery. He received his PhD in Molecular Biology and Immunology from the University of Amsterdam. In 2001 he moved to the United States of America, working as a neuroscientist and living in Wisconsin. “In 2012, I started my life as a self-taught artist, with lots of ambition. “Creating art for me is a personal activity that entails responses from my career as a scientist. I have mainly worked with mixed media. Recently my focus has been on abstract works.”

Edna Grotjahn Early of New Richmond is very eclectic. “I like to derive ideas, styles, shapes and forms from a broad range of sources. Metals, sterling silver, beads, precious stones, soldering, fusing, mix-matching colors, shapes and sizes are intriguing to me.“ “I love the shiny metallic look of sterling silver, shaping and working with it. I tend to like my designs to be asymmetrical, with funky colorful beads, healing stones and a feeling of being a bit “off-balance”. I have always been fascinated with Native American culture, specifically their bead work. I have a grateful admiration and respect for their traditions and unique art work. I also prefer meaningful healing stones to be incorporated into my designs. So many of these thoughts and ideas tend to come out in this show. I’m not afraid to try new things. It challenges, inspires and excites me! I enjoy experimenting with jewelry designs.” “My education was a Broad Area Art Education Major from UW-River Falls with graduate work in education. My first focus after college was glass blowing in my own studio. Then I designed logos, became a sign painter and started creating glass beads; all along I was creating jewelry. I finally realized I my real passion was jewelry design and pursued a more serious, dedicated and funky, fun/playful yet healing approach which is where I am today.” Edna is a member of artZ Gallery.

Julie Adams has been a member of artZ Gallery since 2010. “My interest in art came from an artistic family and the freedom to explore and create. Art instruction began with a degree in Graphic Design at WWTI in La Crosse Wisconsin followed by a BS in Broad Area Art Education at UWRF River Falls Wisconsin. Summer workshops focused on watercolor painting and pottery during my art teaching years at Stillwater Minnesota and then in my hometown of Luck Wisconsin. Since retiring, acrylic ink combined with collage’ and assemblage’ have been the preferred mediums of expression. I have collected a variety of materials in the studio over the years: wood and metal scraps, fabric and found objects from which to choose. Working with the materials at hand I can create unpredictable ways of seeing the same subjects, often views of the Apple River. At times abstract design interests me more than reality, using past artworks as inspiration. Change keeps me moving forward without expectations.”
