We’re excited to announce our Camp Maven: Scream-A-Thon special guest — Jeff Brockton!

Jeff is a veteran stunt coordinator, stunt performer, and actor with hundreds of film and television credits, including Scream 3, where he stepped behind the mask as Ghostface.

Jeff will be joining us throughout the night for:

Photos and autographs before and between films (additional cost)
A Q&A between Scream 2 and Scream 3
An exclusive VIP meet & greet

Hello Film Mavens!

So many of you have been right with us on this crazy journey we've been taking over the past few years!

It is safe to say it will never be possible to express in words how much it means to us to experience the enduring support from so many members of our community

It's one thing to work towards a dream of your own, but when you get to watch that dream become a fulfillment of dreams for so many others, it is truly impossible to describe the depth of joy that has brought to our hearts!!!

We have been overwhelmed by the response for our upcoming Camp Maven (the first one since the day before the fire) fundraiser in just a few weeks at the Orem Public Library, and we have several more fundraisers currently in the works that we are so excited to open up to the community soon, including an epic silent film, the return of the New Year's Eve masquerade ball, collaborating with Fat Daddy's Pizzeria for a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle pizza party, and many many more!

And as always we want to hear from you! What event, film, fundraiser would you love to experience or even be a part of!?!

We may not have access to our movie suggestion chalkboard, but you are always welcome to use our socials in the meantime!

Thank you again for staying right here by our side! We do hope to have promising news for you in the future, and in the meantime we are so excited to connect with you at our fundraisers and geek out about films the way we used to every night in the lobby of the historic Sticky Shoe!

Storytelling is important. Stories transport us, transform us, and motivate us. Storytelling is a very personal experience to embark on, and is also very capable of bringing us together.

We are grateful to all generations of filmmakers who provide us with the immersive stories that connect us and inspire us! Each one adds to film history and drives forward for the next generation to build upon, creating a throughline that can help to unite us like nothing else we've created!

While working for Ogunquit Playhouse this summer, we're pushing hard get Maven back up and running from afar - sewing by day, grant applications & fundraising event planning by night!

It is extremely fitting that right down the road is this INCREDIBLE historic cinema, built over 100 years ago!

They showcase movies throughout film history, host live events, and offer a delicious menu!

We watched Casablanca, and couldn't help feeling super inspired to make Maven the best experience yet!

So excited to share the next steps soon!

Part Two of the Story of Maven: In 2023, we decided it was time to make the dream a reality - after exploring several locations we discovered the historic "Sticky Shoe" cinema beloved by the community for 3/4 of a century, having been built by a trailblazer in cinemas in Utah as his final, grandest theater in 1950 just before his passing.

We couldn't purchase the building, but signed a short term lease and put everything we had into reopening the space to the community!

Ownership of the cinema changed hands in early 2024, and we continued to work hard to create positive events, showcase movies throughout film history, and support Independent Filmmakers

We felt great joy in seeing our dream fulfill the dreams of others!

On June 2, 2024 a small fire in our neighbors' space shut the cinema down.

The owners addressed the minimal repairs very slowly, and we rode the roller coaster ride of hanging onto hope, looking for alternative venues, and loosing hope several times over for many months

February 2025 the owners reached out to see about us leasing again. Negotiations were challenging, and a number months in we had to walk away.

2 years after the fire the building owners are on the final steps to have occupancy re-issued

In the meantime we took the next steps of the dream by forming the nonprofit Film Maven Haven Society

We have a wonderful board who shares in the passion to bring awesome films and events to our community. They have been working hard to help make it possible for us to continue this dream!

We can't wait to share the next steps in the journey, and get back to serving our community through the power of film, storytelling, and connections!
