Meet Sakari from the Little Book Cliffs Wild Horse Range in Grand Junction, CO.

I painted her in watercolor then varnished and mounted to a birch panel then sealed it with cold wax so it doesn’t need framing.

I love this style because the viewer can get up close and the beautiful textures show through without the glass being in the way.

Thank you Renee Edel for all you do for the Mustangs with Friends Of The Mustangs. Thank you for sharing the photograph and story about Sakari and for giving me the opportunity to paint her from your photo.❤💕❤

If you want to learn more about the Wild Mare Series and Sakari, she will be featured in my monthly Studio News—I’ll put the link in the comments to join our herd newsletter.

After a big move with 2 horses and 3 cats and moving into a new art studio, I'm starting to get in a rhythm and catch my breath.

I can't wait to share more details and some fun photos!

Until then, wanted to share a watercolor in progress of Ashanti and will share more when she's finished

This sweet elder mustang mare is at Four Corners Equine Rescue in Aztec, NM.

I met her at the EQUUS Mustang Matinee in Farmington in April that was put together by Lauralee Harper

What a fantastic time I had at the EQUUS Mustang Matinee this weekend in Farmington, directed by Lauralee Harper.

I met so many wonderful people and the opportunity to share my art and all of stories we told each other🥰

The winner of the raffle for the painting "Earth Angels" was Brenda Van Keuren, so amazing to know these two will be part of her home.

The horses are owned by Amanda Held and Justin Held and the photo credit is to Justin Held. A collaboration we did to donate the photo/painting.

Since I'm not able to share what I'm currently working on🥰 at least for now, I'm going to share one of my and many other's favorite💕

"Lead the Way" is a once Wild Mare, Zaira. I took the photo of her one day as she was literally leading the way. I added some splashes to bring some sparks and lightness to the feel of her.

The original watercolor is gracing the walls of a young couple's home that I met at an event and they fell in love with her.

It's also one of the favorite prints when I'm at events. One time a young girl, maybe 12 or 13 years old kept returning to my booth and picking up the print of Lead the Way and asking about the horse.

She returned again to purchase the larger print because she loved the colors and the feel of the horse. She was going to hang it over her bed so she could dream of running with the Wild Horses 💕❤

There's some days I need to remember this story to bring a smile to my heart and know that painting horses makes a difference in other human hearts 💕

Prints available, dm for information, not available on my website yet.

Meet Calamity Jane she's part of my Wild Mare series.

Calamity Jane is a member of the Freedom Family, that were once living wild as Pryor Mountain Wild Horses. They were adopted by The Cloud Foundation and now all live together as a family in Colorado.

I had the great opportunity to meet her and her herd a couple of years ago. It was early Spring and they all had their full winter coats and shaggy hairs blowing in the wind. At that time I believe she was about 3 years old.

This is only the second time I've painted on this surface Ampersand Art Supply Aquabord with watercolors. It will be varnished and placed in a floating frame. I love some of the options this Aquabord has verses painting on paper.

Thank you for following along and all of your beautiful comments and likes of Annabella in progress🥰

I do believe she's finished, but honestly I'm not sure they are ever finished because I can always find something to tweak.

Meet Annabella of the Carracas, a powerful Wild Mare💕 that one time lived wild and free.

She'll be part of the showing of my Wild Mare Series since I'm the featured artist at Lauralee Harper's EQUUS Mustang Matinee in Farmington, NM April 19th.

Thank you Lauralee Harper, Mustang of the Carracas Mesa Documentaey and San Juan County Historical Society for creating an event to share about Mustangs, film, literary and art!

Thank you Laurie Ford for taking this beautiful photo and allowing me to use it for reference to create Annabella of the Carracas 💕

Sharing my work in progress, this is one of the Mares in my Wild Mare Series. There's still lots of layers to go!

She's from the Jicarilla Ranger District in NM and will be included in the showing at Lauralee Harper's Mustang Matinee in Farmington April 19th.

She is a rich dark bay and I'm using lots of beautiful colors to create her. I mix my own blacks so they create a colorful unified blend without looking flat.

Thank you Laurie Ford for the amazing photos I can use for reference.

I'll share more updates along the way

I fell in love with this little guy at the EQUUS Film & Arts Fest and The Mustang Summit in Albuquerque 2023.

The Mustanger Randy Helm was assigned to him for the weekend and I loved seeing how they bonded over the weekend. I know he was adopted during the weekend.

He's been in my studio to paint and I'm so happy to fit him in between commissions, my Wild Mare Series and paint parties🥰

I'll let him sit for a few days, and see what else he may need before completion. I do need to name him.

Usually I have a name before I begin the painting or receive it during the painting......this one so far neither has happened💕

I hope you feel his essence and fall in love with him as I did💕

Sharing some progress photos of one of the watercolor paintings I'm working on. Rather than you always just seeing the final image, you can see how they come to life.

This is Pretzel and she still needs her whiskers😂 and a few more hours and layers of watercolor. Her eyes are beginning to sparkle.

My own photo reference, watercolor on 6 x 6 Ampersand Art Supply Aquabord.

This painting will be archival sealed with a varnish and placed in a floating frame-it doesn't need to be behind glass. I love this style of framing and painting!

This is a special size I'll only be offering for Holiday commissions. DM if you would like more information.
