High Plains Choral Society The High Plains Choral Society is a professional level chamber choir that was founded in 2021.

Inspired by exceptional choral music, the ensemble strives to enhance the accessibility of choral music to a wide range of audiences in the Texas Panhandle.

🌟 Clinician Spotlight: Dr. David Edmonds🌟

We are excited to announce our final clinician for the High Plains Chamber Choir Festival!

David Edmonds, D.M.A, is Director of Choral Studies at the University of New Mexico where he directs the UNM Concert Choir and teaches undergraduate and graduate conducting and choral repertoire. Dr. Edmonds has conducted, adjudicated or presented across the country including in Texas, Montana, Wyoming, Oklahoma, Michigan, Pennsylvania, New Mexico, Nebraska, Iowa and New York. In March 2027, he will lead a Manhattan Concert Production Octavo Series performance in historic Carnegie Hall. Since 2023, Edmonds has also served as Artistic Director and Conductor of Dolce Canto, a community-based choir in Missoula, Montana. Choirs under his direction have presented invited performances at NWACDA, SWACDA and NAfME conferences. Dr. Edmonds was ACDA National Repertoire & Resources Chair for Student Activities from 2015-2021, supporting ACDA student membership nation-wide. An advocate for new music, he has commissioned and premiered works by composers including Kile Smith, Jake Runestad, Katerina Gimon, Susan LaBarr, Daniel Elder, Z. Randall Stroope, and Andrea Clearfield. His own original compositions and arrangements are published by Alliance Music Publications, Colla Voce, and MorningStar Music Publishers. Before coming to New Mexico, Dr. Edmonds was Director of Choral Activities at the University of Montana for six years. He obtained advanced degrees in choral conducting from the University of North Texas (D.M.A., ’12) and Westminster Choir College (M.M., ’10) after teaching high school choral music for six years in Iowa and Texas. He lives in New Mexico with his incredible wife and their two (often) well-behaved daughters.

🌟 Clinician Spotlight: Heather Orr 🌟

We are thrilled to introduce our next clinician for the High Plains Chamber Choir Festival, Heather Orr! A nationally respected conductor, clinician, and music educator, Heather brings a remarkable record of excellence and leadership in choral education to this year’s festival.

Currently serving as Assistant Director of Choral Activities at Texas A&M University, Heather previously spent 30 years in public school education, including 24 years leading the award-winning choral program at Montgomery High School. Her ensembles have earned consistent state and national recognition, with invited performances at the TMEA Convention, National ACDA Conference, and Southwestern ACDA Conference, along with numerous prestigious awards for choral excellence.

Known for her expertise in developing beautiful choral tone, effective rehearsal techniques, and inspiring young singers, Heather is a sought-after clinician and presenter across the country.

We are incredibly honored to welcome one of the most respected voices in today’s choral profession to the inaugural High Plains Chamber Choir Festival. Our singers and directors are in for an unforgettable experience!

We’re excited to introduce the outstanding clinicians and adjudicators who will be joining us for the High Plains Chamber Choir Festival! Over the next few weeks, we’ll be highlighting the incredible educators and conductors who will be working with our participating ensembles.

These talented musicians bring years of experience in the classroom, on the podium, and on the concert stage. Their expertise and passion for choral music will make this an unforgettable learning experience for our singers and directors.

Help us welcome our next adjudicator for the inaugural High Plains Chamber Choir Festival!

We are honored to have Dr. Corey Sullivan joining us for this year’s festival. As Assistant Professor of Choral Music Education and Associate Director of Choral Studies at Texas Tech University, Dr. Sullivan brings a wealth of experience in choral music education, vocal pedagogy, and ensemble leadership. His passion for developing singers and educators alike will make him an incredible resource for our participating choirs and directors.

High Plains Chamber Choir Festival Spotlight

Help us welcome our next adjudicator for the inaugural High Plains Chamber Choir Festival—Kaitlin Davis!

We are excited to have Kaitlin Davis join us as part of our adjudication panel. Currently in her third year as Director of Choirs at Lowery Freshman Center, she brings nearly a decade of experience teaching and building outstanding choral programs across Texas. Her ensembles have consistently earned UIL Sweepstakes and superior ratings, and her experience as a clinician, adjudicator, and former Soprano 2 Section Leader for the 2023 Texas All-State Treble Choir brings valuable insight to our festival.

We are honored to have educators of this caliber investing in singers and directors at our inaugural festival. Stay tuned as we continue introducing the incredible adjudicators and clinicians joining us this year!
