And with that, we say goodbye to Newsies. STRIKE… a word that held so much hope, power, and conviction for this show, now means that it’s all over. As we strike the set tonight, we will never forget how this show, just for a few months, made all of our lives brighter. For some of us this will be the last time we grace the stage at Derry Area. For many others, this is an unforgettable beginning. We thank every single person that came out to see our show. We cannot wait to see you again. This show certainly made the headlines and the world will forever know what we did here ❤️

After the show last night, one of our youngest audience members made it her mission to get ALL of the cast autographs in her and she did it! We have plenty of papes left for you too! Don’t miss your last chance to see Newsies today at 2PM! The box office will open at 12:30 and doors will open at 1:15 for this matinee performance! Just like the Newsies from all over New York City, when we all join together, great things can happen. One of the biggest highlights of this production has been having students from Grandview Elementary, Derry Area Middle School, and Derry Area High School up on stage together telling the story of kids their age making incredible changes for workers rights 127 years ago. We are so proud of all of our students and cannot wait to have them back on stage. But for now, they have 2 MORE NIGHTS OF NEWSIES!!! Grab your tickets at the door or online at dahsmusical.ludus.com. 📸 SENIOR SPOTLIGHT 📸 Our next senior spotlight is Elizabeth Short! Elizabeth is a member of our stage crew and her favorite memory is making new friends for her senior year. She’s excited for the audience to see how well the cast and crew members work together to move sets with no blackouts. Her advice to underclassmen is that “communication is key when it comes to literally anything!”

📸 SENIOR SPOTLIGHT 📸 Our final senior spotlight of Newsies week is Hermione Lehosky! Hermione is playing Katherine Plumber in our production! Her favorite musical memories include laughing endlessly because of Charli, Vincent, or Lenka (DAHS musical alums) and playing a dead man in Les Mis way back in 6th grade! She is currently fulfilling her dream role, but now dreams of Eurydice in Hadestown, Audrey in Little Shop of Horrors, or Gabe and Natalie Goodman in Next to Normal. With years of musical experience comes this wisdom… “Just because you don’t get the role that you want; never ever quit. Every role in a musical is crucial, and who knows, maybe you’ll end up with a lead by the end of your musical career!”

Desiree is playing Buttons in our production and her favorite musical memory was getting back into dance and helping others with choreography! She dreams of getting to play Sharpay Evans or Reno Sweeney and advises underclassmen to “ trust God and do your best that everything you do.”
