Thanks Jackie's Groovy Cheese Truck for this "food for thought" for event planners like us! We agree it is important to find the right balance of variety of choices and having a positive event for the vendors and participants!

Wow, I thought this was absolutely amazing and wanted to share! This is so very true and we've unfortunately been a part of the "way to many trucks for a small event" time and time again. Today in Downtown Altoona, PA! Spend your Saturday exploring art, music, shopping and dining experiences at the Downtown Altoona Art Walk! A musical performance by the Altoona Symphony Orchestra kicks things off at 11am. Then follow the free map for a self-guided tour through downtown at your own pace. Various artists and musicians will be sharing their talent along the route. Check out the beautiful new murals recently finished at the former Gables building. Enjoy featured chalk art at Heritage Plaza by The Chalking Dad, and help Chalk the Block with your own creation. Visit the many downtown businesses, while celebrating the arts!

The Grotto is one of our most active spaces, hosting live music, theater, poetry readings, workshops, youth programs, film screenings, and community events throughout the year. These upgrades will help ensure the space can continue safely supporting lighting, sound, and performance equipment while enhancing the experience for artists and audiences alike.

Our partners at ArtsAltoona have their America250PA Blair County event coming up on Saturday, June 20. Check out the details below and, while you are on their page, check out everything else they have happening!

Two very special free events are coming up at ArtsAltoona on Saturday, June 20th!

At noon, in The Sanctuary, join us for the America 250 Photography Exhibition. Sponsored by ABC Photo Society, Copy-Rite and The Film Center, this exhibit will feature selected photographs from artists across the region. Vote for the fan favorite and enjoy special musical performances throughout the day.

At 7 pm, enjoy a special show in The Grotto, sponsored by The Jeanne Shank-Huber Live Music Foundation. This show will feature The Band Oz, Strings, The Backyard Rockers, and Firewheel. The snack bar will be open with light concessions available for purchase. Adult beverages will also be available by donation for those 21+ with ID.

Baker Mansion opens for the season on Friday, May 22. Three new exhibits will be available as part of the America250PA Blair County celebration! Put it on your to do list!

🏛️🇺🇸 ONE WEEK TO GO UNTIL OUR AMERICA250 TOUR SEASON BEGINS! 🇺🇸🏛️

Even though it has felt like winter the past few weeks, we are closing in on the start of our 2026 tour season here at the mansion! We are going all in on celebrating our nation's 250th birthday this season, so you better believe that our special events, Visitor Center merch, and guided tours will be themed for the occasion!

Of particular note this year is our lineup of three BRAND-NEW America250PA Blair County exhibits that directly tie into the Semiquincentennial this year. These exhibits are "The Blair County Presidential Hall," "A Contested Country: Blair County's Revolutionary-Era and Native American History," and "Blair County: A People's History." Each represents an important theme within the America250 celebration, and we cannot wait to reveal them all to you soon!

Our opening day will be next Friday, May 22 from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM, and hours this season will be Fridays through Sundays from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM as well. Gather some friends, come browse our history, and celebrate this year's momentous anniversary!
