399's concrete pad is poured at the National Museum of Wildlife Art!

Another major step towards dedication, thankfully the museum took over with the local contractor. We are looking forward to seeing everyone for dedication Sept 9, 2026!

Thank you to all of our donors ❤️❤️❤️

In 2016, Jocelyn was honored to receive a commission of a military working dog for the Timothy T. Day Overlook at the National Museum of the Marine Corps in Triangle, Virginia.

Ten years later, this wonderful couple has now donated $75K through their Timothy T. Day Foundation to make this Grizzly 399 Monument a reality. Thank you, Sandy and Tim. ❤️

Shout out to Lisa Margolis, a loving admirer of 399 and our newest Gold Donor at $5000. ❤️ Thank you, Lisa!

We are deeply grateful to each of you...our Donor Wall (see 399Monument website) continues to grow... with one individual donating $7 ❤️. It is so heartwarming to include you all in the wall, please know that YOU are making this labor of love possible. Thank you to each and every one of you. ❤️❤️❤️

Kristen's cub #1 is fully assembled and sandblasted!

Raw bronze is a beautiful soft golden color. All of the weld lines have been blended with grinding tools to match the original clay texture. It's simply amazing to watch the foundry team at work. Once perfected, the entire sculpture is sandblasted to remove the surface of impurities and oils from handling. It also gives the metal toolers a chance to look over the piece to see if anything needs further blending.

40 days until dedication!!!!
Our deepest gratitude to our donors, several more of you have recently contributed and it is much appreciated, we cannot do this without you ❤️❤️❤️

The Sponsor plaque is in the final stages!

After several drafts, we all like this format and the museum will have final edits/approval. It was mutually decided to leave the title "Against All Odds" off the Storywall, keeping that plaque solely about 399 and her legacy.

The Sponsor plaque is more personal and is fitting for the title, team names, and $5K+ donors. This plaque will be temporarily printed for dedication (customary for private donor projects) as some sponsors may want to be included on the final bronze plaque even after installation.❤️ It will likely be mounted on the stone wall behind 399.

The Storywall plaque will be mounted on a boulder next to the monument.

Thank you all for your input and support!
We can't do this without you!

Please see all comments underneath the photos for additional information.

Bear parts abound in the foundry!

Many of the 399 monument pieces are making their way through the welding stations now with several men assembling various panels in bronze.

The panels are being meticulously welded together. Each weld line will then be retextured and blended with grinding burrs and sanding discs to blend in perfectly. This is an incredible foundry team working hard, we are on task and on track for a timely delivery in September!

Thank you all for the recent donations! We are slowly covering our foundry fees to bring 399 and her quads home ❤️

We had an amazing day with Tom Mangelsen, Tiffany Talbott, Sandy Mell, Greg Balvin and Sonia Reid on our recent visit to Jackson.

Sonia fixed a wonderful lunch for all of us, our thanks also to Tiffany Talbott for helping us pull this together.

All of these wonderful wildlife photographers/videographers have been so instrumental in wildlife conservation as well as consultation/reference on 399's likeness in bronze...we couldn't do this monument project without them... or donors like you.
We are grateful ❤️

The 399 Story Wall plaque has been approved!

Both the Museum and Tom Mangelsen have reviewed the verbiage and it will be submitted to the plaque company in the next couple of days for casting.

The Story Wall plaque will be placed on a boulder near the monument and the Sponsor plaque will likely go on the stone wall behind her. Her installation site is under construction and the concrete pad will be ready for installation in September!

Thank you, Donors!!! ❤️❤️❤️
We are ever so grateful for everybody's continued support, the monument was not commissioned and has been a labor of love by both the 399 Monument Team and 399's devoted fans.
If you have donated in any way, YOU are the reason she will have a monument stand in her honor forever at the main entrance of the National Museum of Wildlife Art! Thank you! ❤️❤️❤️

Grizzly 399's head is in bronze!!!!
And so is one of her cubs!

If you have been following earlier posts you will now see how each of these panels were molded, dipped in slurry, poured and now being meticulously welded together in bronze!

The last photos were actually of her head in slurry shell last week.
She's coming together beautifully!

Countdown, 53 days to dedication!
