Trappings of Texas, Saturday Ranch Round-Up is one that we simply cannot forget. Not only did Hotel Limpa's Blue Mountain Bar & Grill do an excellent job in catering, but they provided their beautifully decorated place to enhance our experience with our friends.

It truly was a gorgeous evening!

We’re excited to feature another incredible international artist at the 39th Annual Trappings of Texas!

Javier Ribeyrol – Argentina

Javier Ribeyrol was born in Buenos Aires in 1977. He studied silversmithing at the Municipal School of Arts in Berazategui under renowned silversmiths Fernando Rivalora and David Zaco, where he mastered the art of sculpting and chiseling silver. Javier’s work is recognized for its bold floral motifs and intricate hand-cut designs in both silver and gold.

Passionate about preserving Gaucho culture, Javier mentors aspiring silversmiths from his workshop in Platanos and teaches at the Municipal School of Arts. Since 1997, he has exhibited extensively across Argentina and has been a regular participant in Trappings of Texas since 2008. He has also showcased his work at prestigious events across the United States.

In 2023, Javier won First Place in silversmithing at the National Stock Show in Buenos Aires for a traditional Gaucho buckle. In 2024, he was invited to participate in Cowboys North & South in Colorado, celebrating the 100th anniversary of famed artist Will James.

Don’t miss the chance to see Javier Ribeyrol’s stunning craftsmanship at this year’s show!

Martín Theill

Martín Theill was born in Tandil, Province of Buenos Aires, Argentina. He began studying rawhide braiding in 1999 at the age of fifteen, apprenticing under master braider Pablo Lozano — a mentorship that grew into a lasting friendship. To this day, Martín continues to braid alongside Lozano to further refine his craft. He also received guidance from the late Don Luis Alberto Flores.

A strong believer in apprenticeship as both a practical form of education and a way to preserve cultural heritage, Martín is known for the dependable quality and beauty of his braid work. His craftsmanship reflects not only skill and creativity, but also his careful preparation and selection of rawhide.

He has taught aspiring braiders at the Heritage Center in Tandil and has assisted rawhide braiders from Australia, Germany, Uruguay, and the United States. In 2023, Martín traveled with Lozano to the United States to serve as a guest instructor at the annual Rawhiders Reunion hosted by Clint Haverty in Decatur, Texas.

Martín has exhibited his work widely across Argentina and Uruguay, including at the Exposición de Artesanías Tradicionales Argentinas, Feria Ganadera, and Feria de Nuestros Caballos in Buenos Aires, as well as the Exposición Ganadera de Uruguay at El Prado in Montevideo.

Come see Martín Theill’s incredible braid work in person and experience the artistry rooted in tradition and lifelong dedication.

This year, we're proud to once again feature incredible talent from around the world. Among the four international artists exhibiting in the Gallery, we’re excited to introduce:

Maximo Prado – Argentina

Maximo Prado was born in the Province of Buenos Aires, Argentina. He began studying the art of rawhide braiding in 1998 under the mentorship of Armando Deferrari in Pergamino, Argentina. His apprenticeship lasted over a decade and was further enriched by working alongside fellow braiders Pablo Lozano and the late Don Luis Alberto Flores.

Prado is a strong advocate for preserving traditional craftsmanship through apprenticeships. He has taught rawhide braiding at the Heritage Center in Pergamino and has instructed students from Argentina, Australia, Germany, Uruguay, and the United States. In 2018, he was a guest instructor at the Rawhiders Reunion hosted by Clint Haverty in Decatur, Texas.

His traditional braid work has been showcased at major exhibitions throughout Argentina, including the Exposición de Artesanías Tradicionales Argentinas, Feria Ganadera, and Feria de Nuestros Caballos, all sponsored by the Sociedad Rural Argentina in Buenos Aires.

Prado has earned national recognition for his craftsmanship. In 2012, he won First Place at the Fondo Nacional de las Artes for a handcrafted Gaucho knife featuring a rawhide braided handle. In 2015, he earned another First Place award for a women’s necklace resembling a bolo tie, incorporating rawhide, horsehair, and red stag appliques.

Come see his work in person and experience the incredible artistry of traditional rawhide braiding
