4Seasons Music

4Seasons Music Musings and an education resource about classic rock. To share a passion about the greatest era of music. He worked as a DJ at KSJS in San Jose.

Ken Danielson - owner and DJ of 4 Seasons Music Entertainment. 4 Seasons Music Entertainment is not an overnight start up. Ken Danielson has been a musician for most his life putting his talents to use in both performance and DJing/MCing events, in fact, he started his first rock band in the third grade called "The Snowballs." They knew one song, it was their theme song copied note for note from t

he TV music group, "The Monkees." If you're old enough you'll remember the song "Hey, hey, we're the Monkees . . . " Well, just replace the word Monkees with Snowballs and there you have it -- not real creative but it was a start. Ken fell in love with the acoustic guitar after hearing such great songs as "Blackbird" and "I Will" by The Beatles. Then came the singer/songwriters of the 70s with such great performers as The Eagles, Neil Young, Crosby Stills and Nash, Dan Fogelbeg, and James Taylor. The love for guitar and the love for writing incredible music was cemented deep into his soul. Ken studied classical guitar at Brigham Young University, and went on to record and perform many of his own songs in the San Francisco bay area. Ken experienced an unfortunate accident cutting some of the tendons to his fingers in his left hand. After two surgeries and two years of therapy the hand began to behave as it should but as a guitarist, well, Ken felt he was never quite the same. While rehabbing his hand, Ken turned his talents to DJing. He graduated from San Jose State University with a Bachelors degree in Radio and Television Broadcasting. He launched his Northern California music entertainment business acting as DJ and master of ceremonies for weddings, dances, corporate events, and school reunions up and down the coast -- from San Francisco to Sacramento and back down to Santa Cruz. Ken moved his family to Alpine Utah in 2001, where he and his wife (an amazing piano teacher) worked with and influenced their own children to be accomplished musicians and performers in their own right. A little older, more mature, well seasoned, and all the more qualified and competent to provide music entertainment at any event, Ken has reintroduced "4 Seasons Music Entertainment" to Utah. As you can see, Ken is not just a music fan, but rather he is a dedicated teacher, student, passionate mentor of the arts and passionate about playing the soundtrack to your life at any event needing a mobile DJ.

BOB MAYO ON THE KEYBOARD. BOB MAYO!!
Sad to learn that Bob Mayo passed away today from a heart attack while touring again with Peter Frampton. Frampton said regarding him, "Bob was like a brother to me. I have lost a close personal friend and a talented, professional and outstanding musician."

List of amazing musicians that are now passed on is incredible. What a “Day on the Green” concert they can all play on - that is heavenly.

On my birthday I ran an ultra marathon- afterwards I had 5 CEOs request my consulting expertise, and 3 super rock groups ask me to play back-up guitar on their tour. Then I woke up and found the happiest birthday wishes on my Facebook thread. Which is far better than my dream. Thanks to everyone who took time to remember me. All we take out of this world is our relationships, love and respect for each other. God bless . . .

In the next few days I want to share with you my experience I had at a concert for Ronnie Lane. At the risk of alienating many of my readers, please indulge me for just a bit. Ronnie Lane was a member of the Band "Faces" which also featured Ronnie Wood before he joined the Rolling Stones, and Rod Stewart before he went solo. Listen to this live recording of the song Ooh La La as performed by Ronnie Lane who had just left Faces and sang this song with his new band "Slim Chance" - simply brilliant. I hope this speaks to your soul like it did to me. Then stay tuned for a two part feature about this incredible musician/song writer who eventually passed away from Multiple Sclerosis. (I apologize for the abrupt ending of the video)

Keith Emerson of Emerson, Lake and Palmer, embodied the purest of the progressive rock era. Classically trained on the piano, Emerson brought the Hammond organ and the synthesizer in to main stream pop/rock with such songs as Lucky Man and From the Beginning. ELP and their infamous 1973 album "Brain Salad Surgery" gave meaning to the term "progressive rock" and put them in incredible talented company with Yes, Genesis (featuring Peter Gabriel, of course), Gentle Giant, Jethro Tull, King Crimson. Another master of my childhood soundtrack is now dead at 71. Cause of death is currently unknown. May Keith Emerson Rest In Peace. You will be missed, Lucky Man.

"Keith was a gentle soul whose love for music and passion for his performance as a keyboard player will remain unmatched for many years to come," Carl Palmer says of ELP bandmate

What has made music so fascinating over the many decades are the one hit wonders like "Kung Fu Fighting" - "Funky Town" - "867-5309/Jenny", or Iron Butterfly's "inn-a-godda-da-vida" But for some reason my heart has always been touched by the 1992 hit "No Rain" by Blind Melon.
