And now, Farewell.
July 2021 was the beginning of our journey as Petit Bijou on Murphy Street. So many memories and magical moments were made with you guys. I am grateful we made the most of these three years. Many wine adventures around the world together via wine club and wine dinners. How about the myriad of meaningful conversations you guys shared with neighbors and strangers over wine and smoked salmon and cream cheese toast? You locals have made our visitors feel so welcome.
So many of you have supported my small family business, coming weekly for your Petit Bijou fix, weathering the freezing cold, the burning hot, and the glories of a summer gully washer, like last night! Thank you. The decision to close came about after months of analysis, calculations and projections. Even though closing shop is sad, I am excited to take steps forward into a new chapter, what feels like a whole new book! Working up a resume to send out, writing cover letters, well, quite different from wine club notes! Has been awhile since I’ve scheduled job interviews! Definitely adventures ahead. Am hoping to find employment here in the region, so you probably haven't seen the last of me.
Quite a few of you have been small business owners and I know you appreciate the challenges. We crazy folk do what we do because we are passionate to share a particular experience with you. Whether my sweet neighborhood tweenagers coming for their grilled cheese and cinnamon toast, SRSU student, exploring wine and poetry, desperate travelers, seeking nourishment and calm after the 6 hour trip to West Texas, or the locals, coming for comfort and community, gosh, you are all my favorites. I will miss serving you. So much.

Some of you have gift cards! Come use them soon!! Nora, Thomas and I will be serving you through next week. We might be able to have limited offerings for Thursday and Friday of Viva. Check out Google for updates. We will continue to keep those hours posted there until the NOT bitter end. 😊
Over the next couple weeks we will be taking down, cleaning out and clearing out. All carry out wine is discounted 30% from now until the end. All Petit Bijou coffee mugs, 50% off. I would offer Petit Bijou wine glasses, but, lol, we have broken most of them!! If you would like a cutting of the beautiful Zepherine Drouhin roses to root for your own glorious plant, just ask. Same with grapes. Want a pink cast-iron tub filled with soil and chard for your container garden? Free for the asking! Leftover disposable coffee cups, deli cups etc etc will be going up for sale as well as wine fridges, big coffee pot, soup warmer, extra French onion soup bowls and more. Come by if there’s something you want to grab before I start advertising on Brewster County Exchange. Even the Square Point of Sale system will be available pretty soon if you know an entrepreneur who could use an upgrade. And if you know someone with a dream burning in their heart, seeking a location, I can wholeheartedly recommend 110 W. Murphy street and the Airstream. Liz and Hiram Sibley are terrific landlords and the neighborhood is wonderful.
So. Endings. If I can conjure up a big fat wine dinner, I will definitely let you know. But for the moment, the plan is to have a super sweet celebrate Petit Bijou party July 27. Tickets are $50. This will get you “in the door” to enjoy a gorgeous buffet of all the good things: yep, caviar, pâté, baguette, toast points, charcuterie and more. You know we love you all!! There will be safe gourmet food options for everyone. And two glasses of REALLY good wine per guest. Viva Big Bend will be in full swing, so we will offer this going away party from 4-9, so you can come and then go groove to your favorite band. Please RSVP by the 20th so I can be prepared.
