Yesterday, we introduced you to two American Mustangs and their awesome owners who show with us. Today, we'd like to introduce you to another. Mustang mare, Rey, belongs to Jay and Aly Rattazzi Jones. They are very involved in Mustang adoption and retraining and Aly has judged for us in the Open Ring. This season, they have brought Rey with them to the RHSC Shows, where she safely packs around our very beginners in the Leadline, Walk Only, and Walk Trot One At A Time Classes in the Open Ring in the covered arena. This is what Aly had to say about Rey:
“Rey is a 7 year old mare from the Green Mountain HMA in Wyoming. She was adopted as a yearling for a training competition, and since then has grown up to be an amazing ambassador for the Mustang. She loves trail riding, packing around her lesson kids, and showing how versatile and talented Mustangs can be.”

Thank you again to Riding Warehouse for coming to our show last weekend and giving our division champions an extra award. Have you noticed a few horses at our shows with what looks like white hieroglypics on their neck? More than likely, it's an American Mustang. (Some breeds, like Standardbreds, use freeze brands, too.)

A Mustang freeze brand is a permanent, painless identification mark placed on the left side of a wild horse's or burro's neck by the Bureau of Land Management (BLM). It uses extreme cold (liquid nitrogen) to turn hair follicles white, showing federal ownership, birth year, and an individual ID number.

What the BLM Brand Means
• Symbol Design: Uses the International Alpha Angle System to show ownership, birth year, state of origin, and a unique ID number.
• Purpose: Acts as a permanent, visible form of federal identification and tracking for adoptions.

We have more Mustangs at our shows than the two featured below. We are awaiting some more stories and pictures to share.

Jackie Gentile shares this info about her Mustang mare with us:

"My mustang is Ladybug, but I call her Bug. Her show name is Windgate’s Bugaboo. She was born in 2013 out in the wild and was captured in 2014 as a yearling. She’s from Little Humboldt, Nevada.

I did not start her. I purchased her from a buddy up in Chattanooga. I have had her for 4 1/2 years."

Madison Jarvis shared this about her Mustang mare:

"Delilah is a 2014 Salt Wells, WY Mustang mare. She was adopted out from the BLM as 3 y/o in 2017 and gentled. I had the pleasure of making her officially mine in March of 2026 just before we attended her very first horse show. This is her first season showing and we are enjoying this show weekends with Rolling Hills. I am excited to take on new challenges each show day presents, and seeing our growth from the beginning of the season to the end. We have already so much progress at the halfway point. Delilah and I are looking forward to the rest of the 2026 show season!
Update* She is from Rock Springs, and she was picked up from the BLM in 2016. I just look her brand up again."
