My first big project in oil paint is finally dry enough to photograph ☺️ this has been a fun shift away from abstraction, laying a foundation as I try to get comfortable being expressive with light and form in representational work.

I'm loving the huge open time with oils - the wet-on-wet effects are what originally captured me about abstraction in acrylic, and having hours to keep working live paint captures something I think I was missing without knowing it. Though waiting for them to dry is something I'll have to get used to!

I really wanted to paint this arrangement of poisonous, witchy "baneful" plants, practicing each separately on scraps before putting it on stretched canvas. I've been sharing those scraps to my story if you want to follow along btw 🤠
