My name is Maria Torres and I am started and Arts Program for children age 6 to 15. Your kid (or kids) will be invited to join me once a week in my home studio, located in Allen (full address below), for one hour.

I have been working as a freelance muralist for a few years and at the same time, I have been taking classes at the C
ollin County Community College. My class curriculum included Drawing (basic and advanced), Figure Drawing I, Figure Drawing II. Printmaking( I and II) and Painting( I and II), amongst others. I also worked as a Drawing instructor for Young Rembrandts, a local Arts Academy, where I focused on teaching elementary school children. I have volunteered in some locals school ( Evans and Norton elementary) as an Artist doing Murals or making presentations about Art
Regarding class size and due to the current situation each class would have a maximum of 4 students. Again, they will be held at my home studio, which provides a safe, comfortable and inviting environment for my students. The detailed class schedule is as follows:
Class duration: 70 minutes. I will have classes from
Monday : 4:00 pm to 5:10 pm
Wednesday : 5:30 pm to 6:40 pm
Thursday: 4:00 pm to 5:10 pm
Friday: 4:00 pm to 5:10 pm and 5:30 to 6:40 pm. Text or call me to check on the day that is convenient for you! The schedule will follow the Allen ISD elementary school calendar year. All public holidays will be observed. The cost is $30 per class. Supplies will be provided. We will cover the following concepts:
Art vocabulary
Art history
Portrait
Perspective
Still life
Realism/Abstraction
Color theory
Fundamental composition skills
Line and patterning
Each class will consist of a different project and we will be using different tools and materials, including, but not limited to: pencil, color pencils, pastel, watercolor, and acrylic.
