Back in November I entered two Clay Purses that I had made into the Tri-County Arts Council ā€œA Little Somethingā€ Small Works Members Show. I never had the chance to post some pictures of the purses I made but I still want to share them with you! Some of you may have already seen them circulating online. I did win the People’s Choice Award for the green purse, and I couldn’t be more grateful for how many people love and support my artwork! Thank you so much!ā¤ļø

Please enjoy some of the detailed shots of each purse! These are definitely my most favorite pieces I’ve ever made!

Some facts about the purses:

- I modeled each purse after a real purse of my own. You can see the real green purse featured next to the clay purse in the last picture.

- Each purse took about 20-25 hours for me to make from start to finish over the period of about a month.

- Both purses will hold water, so you could put fresh flowers in them and use it as a super unique vase.

- After staining each purse with the color they are now, instead of using a clear glaze on the outside I used two different wax varnishes to add to the depth in the creases and stitching, and to give the piece a more leather looking finish instead of a glossy shine.

- I did sell the Green Purse! Which was so exciting, even if I was a little sad to see it go.

- The Brown Purse is still for sale! Message me if you’re interested!

I tried something new this year! A little army of snowmen! Some big and small, some with hats and without, scarves and no scarves. The perfect little decor piece!
And if you already have one of my trees, the snowmen look great next to it!
I’ll be at the Zonta club vendor show at Christ United Methodist tomorrow, Saturday, from 9-2pm.

Commission Tuesday!
This is a butter bell I made a couple years ago for someone who wanted one of the butter bells I made but in a different color. She chose this beautiful green glaze!

A butter bell works by creating an airtight seal to keep butter fresh at room temperature. You pack butter in the bell shaped lid and then fill the base with about an inch of cold water. When you place the lid onto the base it forms a seal that keeps air out, keeping the butter from spoiling while also keeping it soft and spreadable.

I don’t make these butter bells as a part of my regular inventory pieces anymore but I do take orders. If you want to order one let me know! And that goes for any other commissioned order you are thinking about placing. Let me know soon so I can get your order in for the holidays!😁
