Jack Johnson was the first acoustic-folk artist I’d heard back in the days of am/fm radio, and his voice drew me in immediately. Probably around 2006 (2 DECADES ago, omg!) his surf side melodies, simple lyrics and playful style got me hooked. I was obsessed with everything Jack Johnson and became a big fan. He was one of the first artists that inspired me to start learning and find my voice, all those years ago.

So I figured it was time to pay homage and record one of the worlds’ favorite Jack tunes: Banana Pancakes

😪This video makes me sad. I see someone with a chronic, undiagnosed condition falling through the cracks of a broken health care system. This year alone I’ve spent countless hours and thousands of dollars bouncing between doctors, therapy, imaging, specialists, and treatments — only to be told I can only discuss ONE issue per visit and book more appointments for everything else.

The system isn’t patient-centered, it’s profit-centered. Insurance companies delay care, clinics maximize visits, and patients are left exhausted, overwhelmed, and financially drained trying to piece together their own healing.

As a musician already struggling with rising costs and declining income, the weight of navigating chronic health issues on top of it all has truthfully just broken me. And I know I’m still more fortunate than many people who don’t have financial support, insurance, or flexibility in their schedules.

I don’t know what the answer is, but something has to change. People with chronic illness deserve coordinated, compassionate care… not a hamster wheel of appointments, copays, referrals, and dead ends. ❤️‍🩹
