2026 is the summer my kids have been obsessed with fishing — and I am so excited to be able to enjoy their new favorite activity on our next Disney Resort Day! 🎣✨
Honestly, when most people think of a Disney vacation, they picture packed park days, fireworks, and rope-dropping rides. But some of the absolute best memories happen when you slow down and explore the resorts.
If you didn't know you could fish at Disney, you aren't alone! It’s one of those hidden-gem activities that is completely catch-and-release (mostly largemouth bass) and perfect for a relaxing morning or afternoon.
Here is how it works if you want to add it to your next trip:
🛥️ Guided Fishing Excursions
If you want to get out on the water, you can book a 2-hour or 4-hour private boat trip. They accommodate everyone from total pros to little kids who have never held a rod before.
You can choose between a spacious pontoon boat (holds up to 5 people) or a sleek tournament-style bass boat (holds up to 3). The absolute best part? Disney handles all the logistics. The excursion includes an experienced guide who knows exactly where the fish are hiding, all your rods, reels, bait, tackle, and soda and water to keep everyone hydrated (and you can pack your own snacks, too!).
You get to fish in some pretty surreal locations, like the Seven Seas Lagoon right outside Magic Kingdom, Crescent Lake, or the World Showcase Lagoon. Boats leave from the marinas at Fort Wilderness, the Contemporary, Grand Floridian, Polynesian, Wilderness Lodge, Yacht Club, Old Key West, Port Orleans - Riverside, and Caribbean Beach.
🎣 Traditional Dockside Fishing
If you’d rather stay on dry land, you can just rent some cane poles and bait for some old-school dockside fishing. It’s super casual and a great budget-friendly option. You can do this at:
• The Fishin' Hole on Ol' Man Island (Port Orleans - Riverside)
• The Bike Barn (Fort Wilderness Campground).
Booking: While you can sometimes walk up for dockside fishing, you definitely want to book the guided boat excursions in advance **Wink Wink**... your favorite Disney Planner can handle that for you.
