Daily Vinyl Spin We work at a creative agency... and we've developed a pretty severe vinyl habit. From raiding the CD Cellar to our own parents' collections, we spin a lot.

Welcome to the visual documentation of what we're listening to at any given moment.

Discogs is my friend. Copped an original press of this fantastic soundtrack in extremely good condition, and it's bringing back such fun memories. This one's for my sisters, who introduced me to this film and the joy of Lick the Tins' version of "Can't Help Falling in Love."

(Reposting due to aspect ratio change)
Beloved Canadian blues singer Sass Jordan passed away on Friday, October 2nd. I was first introduced to her music in 1994 with this absolutely *killer* album, "Rats," by some friends of mine in college. I honestly wish I could've seen one of her shows while she was here with us. RIP.

My band Juniper Lane was honored to work with Mitch Easter on a few of our releases. This is his band Let's Active's first full-length record (after the "Afoot" EP), and it's awesome. If you've never listened to Let's Active, start with "Afoot" and don't stop. Like, ever.

Alicia brought in Cage the Elephant's third album, "Melophobia." Definitely a challenging listen, but in an absolutely positive way. It's not meant to be easy, and the listener is rewarded in myriad ways.

One more for today.
I've never seen FORBIDDEN FRUITS or heard Anna Drubich's score. But when I saw Waxwork Records' post showing the making of these records... yeah, I had to pick one up. We are enjoying Ms. Drubich's score as I write this, and I'll be checking the movie out soon.

A24 has finally started shipping Devonté Hynes' score from Olivia Wilde's THE INVITE. I loved this score when I saw it for review (head over to DC Filmdom), and I'm very happy to be spinning it in the office today. Kirin McElwain's cello playing is lush and wonderful.

Alicia Witt is playing tonight here in Northern Virginia at Jammin' Java, so we're pregaming with "Between Heaven and Earth," her lovely ode to her friend and mentor, David Lynch. It is absolutely gorgeous, and I can't wait to hear what she's got for us tonight.

Here's another soundtrack from 1995 that was never released for retail on vinyl. Doesn't even have artwork - just a plain white sleeve. (It got a CD release, and I sure as hell wore that out.) KMFDM's "Juke-Joint Jezebel" is one of my favorites on here, along with tracks by 2Pac, Diana King, and Mark Mancina. And the movie's pretty awesome, too.

The BATMAN FOREVER vinyl soundtrack was originally released as a promo set for radio and club DJs, not for retail. (It was finally released for retail in 2018.) One of my favorite songs on this soundtrack is The Flaming Lips' "Bad Days," and the small snippet you'll hear on this post is one of the coolest snare drum entrances to one of the most fun grooves ever. Found this on Discogs, and it plays perfectly. This is the first of two 1995 DJ-only soundtracks I bought in the past week - you'll see the other one soon.
