🇺🇸🦬🌄🏜️ USA @ 250 🏜️🌄🦬🇺🇸
This exhibit at is on view through the end of June. My three pieces are inspired by my travels to national parks - Yellowstone, Shenandoah, and Saguaro. I’ve been lucky to take several road trips throughout the western and southwestern U.S. and also camp and hike annually in my closest national park, Shenandoah.
So much of the United States natural beauty and wildlife is still under threat today unfortunately by our own government. We need to protect and preserve our natural history. The American Bison was nearly extinct 150 years ago and was brought back due to conservation efforts. Today, the majority of the half million population is actually commercial livestock while the wild bison in Yellowstone National Park is has limited space to roam and the government wants to restrict that space even more be revoking grazing permits in Montana.
Wildfires in Shenandoah National Park continue to increase due to rising temperatures and prolonged drought due to a climate change which the U.S. government continues to not make a priority.
Saguaro cacti are the largest in the U.S. and can live over 200 years old and are a symbol of the American Southwest, yet they also face threats due to climate change, invasive species and habitat destruction due to urban sprawl.
What do we have left if not the natural beauty and wildlife in our country?
