One of the best parts of hydro dipping is seeing the transformation happen.

Taking an ordinary part and turning it into something completely custom never gets old. Some projects are simple, while others take a little extra time and patience, but seeing the finished result makes it all worth it.

What type of finish catches your eye the most?

Carbon fiber, camo, woodgrain, or a completely custom design?

We walk through the process, show the pattern transfer, and explain how a simple part can turn into a fully customized piece with the right prep, film, activator, and clear coat.

Hydro dipping is a great way to add custom designs to automotive parts, outdoor gear, interior pieces, and more.

Gloss or Satin — Which Would You Choose?

Same gunstock, same Deep Walnut hydrographic pattern… two completely different finishes.

One is finished in a smooth satin/flat clear for a more natural, low-sheen look.
The other is finished in gloss clear for a deeper, richer shine that really makes the woodgrain pop.

This is a great example of how much your clear coat choice can change the final look of a project.

Which one do you prefer on this gunstock — gloss or satin/flat?

💡 Friday Tip of the Day

Don’t rush the rinse.

After dipping, it can be tempting to hurry through the rinse and move on to the next step, but proper rinsing is a big part of getting a clean final finish.

Make sure the slimy residue from the film is fully rinsed off before drying and clearing the part.

If residue is left behind, it can cause issues with your clear coat or leave the finish looking rough instead of smooth.

Take your time here — a good rinse helps set up a better final result.

💦 New to hydro dipping?

One of the biggest mistakes beginners make is thinking the dip itself is the most important part.

The truth is, the prep work is what usually makes or breaks the final result.

Cleaning, sanding, base coat, film setup, soak time, activation, and rinse all play a huge role in how clean your project turns out.

Take your time, learn the process, and don’t rush the steps before the dip.

That’s where the results start. 👌
