My art studio is a place for children to take a break and unplug. As a mom myself, I have often thought how nice it would be to freeze moments in time! Life passes before us in a blink - but art captures a season in our child's soul that can be treasured forever. Those moments shall pass and when their little hands no longer need to hold yours to walk across the street - art keeps a glimpse of tha

t moment in time. My classes take a very simple approach to teaching art. I believe that instruction and opportunity, coupled with practice will bring about an independent and confident little artist. Oftentimes we think of art as it was taught long ago - where an apprentice worked under a master for years - however, my philosophy is that we are all born creative, but we need to strengthen these skills or our creativity becomes clouded by the reality of life. When creativity is encouraged at a young age - we begin to paint a picture of endless opportunities for the imagination of that child. Children process more stimuli in their pre-school years than any other time in their development. Once a child enters the school environment they begin to understand the world can be challenging and stressful. Creative expression "grows" the brain for more advanced learning in a world full of expectations and standards; self-expression is a very important tool to cope with these challenges. And when we ‘grow up’ and need to connect with our creative side, share moments with friends or add art to our bucket list, I have classes for you too! My studio all started because while working with kids and sharing in their genuine creativity, I realized that adults were needing to relax and unplug with art just as much as children do!
