Harold Littlebird, a nationally renowned contemporary Pueblo potter and poet, has been making his unique award winning stoneware pottery for 60 years. It is all hand built (without the use of a potter’s wheel) incorporating slab and coil techniques. It is decorated with painted slips and stains, hand-drawn underglaze crayons and pencils or stenciled with original sponge designs creating one-of-a-kind pieces which are then fired in an electric kiln. This beautiful cone 5 stoneware is completely lead-free, oven proof, dishwasher safe and microwave friendly.

Mr. Littlebird moved away from his Native New Mexico homelands and now resides in Oxford, Florida.

dylan lilla is a q***r trans-nonbinary, colorblind artist, and twin. They create work that centers q***r/trans joy and experiences, and examines the chosen family. In the face of active oppression, lilla considers centering q***r/trans joy an act of resistance that needs to be displayed. Care, embrace, rejection of the state, and navigating q***rness are narratives often layered together in lilla’s work.

They are particularly interested in q***r assemblage which refers to a complex layering of identities not necessarily tangible that emphasizes temporalities, feeling, and affect. lilla investigates these q***r theories in highly colorful portraits and assemblages using crafts such as appliqué, collage, embroidery, pottery, and weaving.

Deborah Littlebird curates tea sanctuary experiences in wild landscapes and sacred spaces, inviting others to create sanctuary on the ground beneath our feet. A practicing herbalist for more than 30 years, Deborah shares her passion for plant medicine and wildcrafting through her small-batch herbal remedies and teaches backyard herbalism for creating one’s own kitchen cupboard apothecary.
Deborah has a Fine Arts degree from Kendall School of Design and during the 1980s she worked as an Art Director and Graphic Designer in Michigan before relocating to New Mexico in 1991. There, she joined her husband, Larry Littlebird (Laguna/Kewa Pueblos) in producing storytelling conferences, oral tradition projects and land based retreats. Their collaborative work culminated in the co-founding of Hamaatsa, an indigenous continuum and nonprofit dedicated to perpetuating tribal American oral traditions.
A year ago, Deborah turned to clay handbuilding as a cathartic process for grief and was inspired to create her own tea bowls for the land-tea sanctuaries she hosts. Today, she combines the subtle nuances of earth, clay and plants to express an elemental beauty in her tea cups, small plates and vases.
Through her work, Deborah weaves together artistry, herbal wisdom and reverence of place, creating experiences and objects that honor the interconnectedness of land and spirit.

Check out Francesco "Frank" Lanzante this Friday from 5-10pm 🎉

Francesco Lanzante has been working with clay for about 10 years. Starting out at Santa Fe Preparatory High School in New Mexico, he found a new passion amongst the arts. Traversing the many personal and economic struggles rooted for him in Santa Fe, he found solace and peace through ceramics. Looking to expand upon his new found beliefs, he sought to further his education at Skidmore College. Learning in such a formal art environment not only honed in his talents, but has completely altered the course of his work. Still working mostly in clay, he has also worked in other mediums such as metalsmithing, sculpture, and digital media. Mostly making functional pots, he also enjoys creating more sculptural works. Francesco has worked in Montana, been a manufacturer at New Mexico Clay, and completed a Post Baccalaureate program at the University of Hartford. He currently teaches Middle School and High School ceramics at Santa Fe Prep, where he gets to share his passion for clay with the next generation.

We’re incredibly excited to show a stoneware piece by Robert King made during a recent residency at the Denver Art Museum. August 7th 5-10pm

Robert, a practicing physician and member of the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma, is a self-taught potter who continuously seeks new ways to express himself, utilizing the natural resources found in the surrounding landscape. Respectfully collaborating with the wild clay, rocks, minerals, sand and trees surrounding his Galisteo home and studio, he attempts to craft pottery that expresses the organic and natural environment where these materials have rested for centuries. He describes his body of work as “a love letter to the high desert”.

In 2023, Robert won first place for abstract sculpture at Santa Fe Indian Market. In 2024, he was awarded Emerging Artist Fellowship Recipient from the National Council on Education for the Ceramic Arts. Robert’s work is collected internationally, and he has exhibited across New Mexico and at the National Council on Education for the Ceramic Arts, in Virginia, at the American Museum of Ceramic Art, in Pomona, California and at such esteemed institutions as the American Museum of Ceramic Art (AMOCA) and the Denver Art Museum (DAM), where he has been selected for the Native Arts Artist Residency.

Shifting gears after a career as a prizefighter, Carlos Condit has quietly focused in on an interest in art. Ceramics specifically. “Since I was a kid I’ve had an interest in clay. I think I’m drawn to the physical nature of the material, it’s tangible. Just your hands and clay, no barriers to expression other than ability. Direct cause-and-effect.”

The work is varied, including both functional ware and sculptural pieces. See it at our ceramic showcase Remembered Earth August 7th 5-10pm
