The African American Performing Arts Center and Exhibit Hall is a venue for educational, artistic, historical, cultural programs and services about African Americans. The venue is located on the New Mexico state fair grounds and features a 300 seat theatre and art gallery that encourages and promotes cultural awareness through performing and visual arts. The educational component of the program fe

atures literacy, visual and performing art classes for the youth that are open to the public. Past performances in the theatre include: STAND UP FOR MENTAL HEALTH, KNME presents THE DUST BOWL, Musical Theatre Southwest (MTS) FOOTLOOSE, and TEDXABQED. Past exhibitions in our gallery include: WORKING ON THE RAILS, AFRICAN AMERICANS AND THE DOMESTIC TRAIN SERVICE, and MOVING THE DREAM FORWARD; A CELEBRATION OF THE SECOND INAUGURATION OF BARACK OBAMA AND THE BIRTHDAY OF DR. MARTIN LUTHER KING, JR.
