Georgi Mav Leaf Side Table

This piece was made in 2003, but I only had the rear view of the table. I knew I had the front view as shown, but could never find it. I just found it by accident in the wrong directory. It did win the 2003 NICHES award. IMO, it's one of the best Leaf Tables in the Leaf Table Series.

It was almost destroyed by a woman who thought it was a seat. I just caught the scene out of the corner of my eye as I was talking to another person. I yelled at her at the top of my voice as I ran at full speed and was prepared to tackle her, but at the last second, people saw what was about to happen and held her by the arms, preventing a disaster. The good news is that it sold the next day at the show.

Broken Heart... My Ooh Aah has upped and left

I had inaccurately mapped the full scale lam working drawing incorrectly as to what pieces were hollow and what pieces were solid.

Sculpted right through the shell of the piece. Had to cut it up and toss it. Don't have enough time to do another one for the Scottsdale Art Week show.

In an interview decades ago, Wendell Castle said when he was starting out he knew how important it was to have an Ooh Aah piece at an exhibit even if it was unlikely to sell. Well this was going to be my ooh aah piece and I was pretty sure it was going to sell. F**k!

This work was recently sold at auction. It was the first Leaf Wall piece I had ever made, and it could be hung from either the top or the bottom. You can see that the right corner was damaged and there was an attempt to repair it, probably by the owner.

A museum curator once told me he did not like the use of the splines in my Leaf Series. I totally agree with him now. They are distracting.
