Thanks to our member Eva for organizing and leading the Etegami Postcard Exchange! Many of our members are participating and here is the first batch of the postcards! Can’t express how happy we are on receiving these adorable cards in our snailmail. #

On May 16, 2026 Escribiente members were led by Caryl McHarney in creating Etagami postcards. Etagami are spontaneous quick sketches of natural objects accompanied with a few brush lettered words and a chop. The drawing can be “clumsy or wobbly” and is meant to go off the sides of the paper and use three colors.

Reminder to our members to join the Zoom meeting on Wednesday May 6, 2026! Topic is Illuminated Manuscripts: Then, Now and Yours by Kalo Chu. He talk will take us to the intersection of historical manuscripts and modern creativity. She’ll include practical tips you can use right away!

Kalo is a calligrapher extraordinaire with incredible range! She has achieved Certification in Spencerian Script, Engrosser’s Script and Borders & Illumination from IAMPETH. She has her own studio in Hong Kong and has recently become a tattoo artist specializing in scripts. Thank you Kalo for presenting!

Our in-person April meeting was on using stamps in our art. Our talented member, Diane Inman, shared how she used her collection of inherited stamps. Her father was an avid, meticulous stamp collector which she inherited! Thank you Diane!!!
