Meet the Cast of MACBETH pt. 1

During our 14-performance run, we invite you all to join us for two special evenings, starting at 6:00 PM before the 7:30 PM performance.

Halloween — Saturday, October 31

A special Halloween evening of fun and fright! Doors open at 6:00 PM for an evening of spooky pre-show fun, including pumpkin carving. For an extra fee, we’ll provide the pumpkins and tools so you can make your creations part of the show by placing them on stage! Come dressed in your Halloween best for our costume contest, with the winner being chosen by our Costume Designer. Come early and enjoy candy, drinks, and tarot readings from the witches themselves before the 7:30 PM performance.

After you've seen our Gothic take on Macbeth with this October, keep the Macbeth spirit going! Don’t miss our friends BreakingEven and their upcoming production of The Serpent Underneath at North 4th — a dance production inspired by Shakespeare’s Macbeth. We’re excited to see how they bring their own unique and creative vision to this dark and thrilling story!

What happens when ambition has no limits, power has a price, and loyalties can find no steady ground?

The Serpent Underneath is BreakingEven’s original narrative production inspired by Shakespeare’s Macbeth, reimagined through a feminist, matriarchal lens and brought to life through storytelling and multi-genre dance.

Announcing the New Mexico Shakespeare Festival’s 2027 season: “The Masks We Wear.”

For this season, we will explore themes of who we are, what we hide behind, and when we expose ourselves. The season will explore the physical and metaphorical masks we wear and ask who we are beneath what we hide. Every one of us wears a mask. Sometimes it protects us. Sometimes it imprisons us. Sometimes it allows us to become who we’ve always been.

We kick off our season with our first SPRING show, TWO NOBLE KINSMEN, followed by our free summer festival TWELFTH NIGHT and MEASURE FOR MEASURE, concluding with our fall show TITUS ANDRONICUS.

We are also accepting Director’s Proposals for TWELFTH NIGHT, MEASURE FOR MEASURE, and TITUS ANDRONICUS.

The New Mexico Shakespeare Festival presents Macbeth, directed by Artistic Director Levi Gore, with Assistant Director Alexandra Avila and Stage Manager Donna M. Barra.

Set in the mid-1800s and inspired by New England iconography and American Gothic horror, this production of Macbeth takes audiences on a thrilling one act journey into the dangers of ambition and the terror of tyranny. Shakespeare’s haunting tragedy follows a celebrated general whose ambition, fueled by both prophecy and his wife’s urging, drives him toward murder and an ever-deepening descent into violence and paranoia.

Join us on the lower level of the southernmost car on the # 707 for a feast of Shakespeare scenes.
Then join us tonight at Veterans Memorial Park for the closing performance of The Winter’s Tale.
