With deep sorrow, we announce the passing of Martin Michael Terry, a dedicated visual artist and lifelong educator, who left us on November 28, 2024, in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Born on December 17, 1952, in Poughkeepsie, New York, Martin was a creative spirit who believed firmly in the innate artistic potential within everyone. He often remarked, "Everyone has that creative spark-Everyone!" This philosophy guided his journey as he passionately shared his love for art with students, fellow artists, and the community throughout his life.

As we celebrate Martin's life, we honor his memory by embracing our own creative sparks, ensuring that his belief in the power of art continues to inspire generations.

Martin's wish was that donations in his memory be made to FUSION to support their continuing support of "unseen" artists. For donation options visit: FUSIONnm.org/martin. Checks can be mailed to FUSION, 700 1st St NW, Albuquerque, NM 87102."

Exhibit Narrative:
Creativity is within us from birth, and Tomorrow’s Artists Today aims to showcase those young creative forces. From age one, when babies can “scribble,” to age 17, when the artist has learned the rules of artmaking, this exhibit’s focus will be on tomorrow’s artists who show a passion for the art-making process. Our young artists are free and unencumbered by societal pressures to conform to a specific idea of what art should be. The art that they make is unfiltered, raw, honest, and reflective of their thoughts, feelings, and life experiences. They show no fear in expressing their innermost dreams and fantasies. We need to Stop! Look! and Listen! to what these artists have to say.

Do You Know Such an Artist?
We are asking for referrals to those young artists who are just beginning their artistic journey through life, so that we can give them a platform to share their work. All media will be considered including, but not limited to, painting, sculpture, printmaking, clay, papier-mâché, photography, computer-generated, finger-painting, etc. The exhibitor must be aged 1 through 17, and a resident of New Mexico.
