This Saturday evening at the Currents New Media Festival, you’ll get to preview some of the artists appearing at Sandia Soundscapes this year! On October 3, Trey Gunn and David Forlano will play a special ambient/downtempo set, and on August 15, we’ll get to hear hear Morgan Barnard’s music as well as see his wonderful visuals! We'd like to thank everyone who came out last night to see Michael Stearns Music play. It was a full house, and an absolutely magical performance by Michael, ranging from delicate to thundering passages (in quad!).

All of the positive comments were also greatly appreciated: These show require a lot of work to put on, and hearing that others appreciated our work and vision with the different way we do things (video support, interviewing the artist as part of the show, etc.).

Michael Stearns Music will speak about his career and process before playing an extended set including both new material and updated classics. We only intended to put on three shows this year, but the reaction was so positive to our first show that we have booked an additional one on August 15, featuring Jesse Tatum on flute + electronics, including video projections! We really appreciate everyone who came out for the inaugural Sandia Soundscapes event on February 21 at FUSION ABQ! Our first performer was Sandia Soundscapes co-founder Jim Coker of Meridian Alpha. You can see the cameras we set up around Jim to project on the video screens; they allowed the entire audience to see precisely what he was doing while performing, including soloing on the Linnstrument.
