How it started vs. How it’s going

The picture on the left is the very first thing I ever threw on the wheel back in a college ceramics class. The bowl is so wonky.. The walls are way too thick and uneven. Not to mention it is TINY, but I was SO proud of it!! Because after an hour (if not more) of trying and failing to throw something that you could call a bowl, I finally did it. It’s so rewarding to be able to look at something and say ‘Hey, I made that!’

Pottery has taught me so many lessons so far and I’m learning more everyday. Most of all it’s taught me how to be more patient, how to let go of control and embrace the unpredictable, and how to keep pushing forward and growing.

So I still say that I was so proud of that little lopsided bowl when I first made it, but I think I’m even more proud of it now. It sparked a love for something that I never would have considered otherwise, and it’s a reminder of how far I’ve come in such a short amount of time.

Now on to even bigger and better! 🥰
