Comprised of five hexagonal steel gates, “Threshold Five” by ArtBuilds Collective serves as a place for observers to pause and consider their path amidst the rush of daily life🌟

By providing no clear beginning or intended route, the installation leaves the choice entirely up to the viewer. Commissioned by the Escondido Community Foundation, Threshold Five is ArtBuilds first permanent installation and was installed in Escondido’s Kit Carson Park in April 2026.

“We Can Do It” by Miriam Klein Stahl honors the Rosie the Riveter women who worked in the Richmond, CA shipyards during WWII🛠️

Miriam's stainless, corten, and powder-coated steel sculpture depicts a riveter and a welder working on metal objects. This was a turning point in women’s rights, with women proving their capabilities in skilled trades and people of all genders and backgrounds working together.

From the artist: "My hope is that when people see this sculpture they can see themselves in the workers, or see someone in their community or family. To honor the labor of the Rosies, I wanted the figures in my sculpture to be shown in the act of working, with dignity, focus, and pride."

“Emergence” by Jeffrey Reed and Jennifer Madden symbolizes transformation, as represented by the gathering of butterflies🦋

Emerging from a dreamlike state, the figure embodies a moment of awakening and metamorphosis. Composed of stainless steel, concrete, glass, and LEDs, the work combines industrial materials with fantastical elements to portray both fragility and transcendence. Inspired by the adjacent butterfly garden, this sculpture was commissioned by Taylor Morrison through the City of Cupertino’s artwork in private development program.

“Pulse Portal” by artist Davis McCarty is a functional, 20-foot archway that invites viewers to experience a radiant welcome to San Francisco.🌈

McCarty bends and refracts light through his signature dichroic plexiglass surfaces, creating a luminous portal for the Pier 27 Cruise Terminal. The work has previously appeared at Burning Man and AREA15 in Las Vegas, and has been highlighted by The New York Times.

Debuted at Burning Man in 2023, “Atabey’s Treasure” now proudly sits along the Big Art Loop in San Francisco🐟

This sculpture was created by Puerto Rican artist NiNo to bring attention to the environmental challenges facing his home island. Made with an internal steel frame and repurposed metal, such as silver pizza trays, "Atabey's Treasure" is “the ancestral mother of the Taino Indigenous people of Puerto Rico,” who was “worshiped as a goddess of fresh water and who represents the Earth Spirit.”

“Echoes - a voice from uncharted waters” by Mathias Gmachl is a life-sized steel sculpture of a one-year-old blue whale.🐋

This installation is both in honor of one of Earth’s largest, most beloved mammals, and a plea for awareness and change. If you get too close to the whale calf, an alarm will sound, serving as a critical allusion to our impact on the natural world.

From the artist: "With Echoes - a voice from uncharted waters, I want to provide an open space - a platform - for the public to have conversations about the future of our planet. Not just about whales, but of all life that exists. The need to create room to learn, and dream, of a better future feels more pressing than ever. The installation is my small contribution towards a larger shift in the narratives and actions needed."

Introducing "Coralee"! A beautiful mermaid sculpture along the Big Art Loop that's composed of recycled glass and mixed metals🧜‍♀️

Originally created at the Chatsworth House, England, the local school children participated in the creation of her glass scales and the mosaic pool she lays in. Glass bottles were collected, cleaned, tumbled and fused together.

This fantastical Big Art Loop sculpture, “Dr. Fisherian’s Runaway Machine” by Chris Wollard, combines industrial design with each passerby’s imagination!🤖

The mysterious robot in mid-stride invites viewers to imagine their own stories about where its coming from and going. The legs are constructed of repurposed oilfield pipes and the body is made of light weight steel tubing and skinned with aluminum cladding. Fun fact: this sculpture is self-standing -- it's not mechanically connected to the base!
