Calling all young storytellers, performers, and creative minds! Join Black Theatre Troupe of Upstate NY for Diaspora Dramatics: Connecting Youth to a Global Black Heritage, a FREE 6-week workshop where youth will explore storytelling, improv, theatre games, and scenes from African American literature in a fun, welcoming, and supportive environment.

Set in 1985 South Africa during apartheid, this powerful drama follows an idealistic teacher and two gifted students as they navigate a world divided by race, politics, and generations. As hope gives way to unrest, each must decide what they’re willing to fight, and sacrifice, for the future.

In collaboration with Black Theatre Troupe of Upstate NY, Summer Studio is a two-week acting experience for young performers ages 10-14 who love the stage. Students will explore acting, improv, voice, movement, storytelling, and even get a behind-the-scenes look at theREP before culminating in a live showcase for family and friends.
