Wednesday night ends where every show actually gets made: backstage. Technical Theatre with Gabi Bazinet Douglas is a hands-on look at stage management, design, and the roles most audiences never think about — the ones that make a production run. No experience required, just curiosity.

Acting Technique with Lance Douglas is for performers who already love being onstage and want to go further — real work on confidence, characterization, improvisation, and text, the kind of training that turns a good instinct into a specific, grounded performance.

Tap starts with the fundamentals — rhythm, coordination, timing you can hear as clearly as you can see — and builds from there. Gabi Bazinet Douglas teaches both levels back to back, advanced at 6:15, intermediate right after, working that foundation up toward the speed and musicality of real musical theatre and rhythm tap.

6th-9th graders join us on at 5pm to dive into tumbling. Acro with Jess Forte builds the strength, flexibility, and body awareness that shows up the moment choreography gets physical — a walkover in a dance number, a lift that needs real core control. Beginners and experienced tumblers train side by side.

Wednesdays open with the conversation a lot of families don't know how to start: what actually happens between now and a college audition. BA or BFA? Conservatory or liberal arts? What's a prescreen, what's a Unified? Do you need help preparing or filming? How do you select material? What do the panels really want to see in the audition room? AshleySimone Kirchner walks students through all of it. Sophomores welcome — juniors and seniors, this one's really for you.

Tuesday night closes with the chance to really MOVE. Musical Theatre Dance runs students through the paces a working performer trains on — placement, line, across-the-floor work — then sets a combination from a favorite musical each week. AshleySimone Kirchner teaches the 90-minute advanced section; Gabi Bazinet Douglas leads the 60-minute intermediate class.

Four classes, one evening - and one comprehensive training track in CONSERVATORY for anyone serious about musical theatre who wants to tackle the full schedule.

By 6:30, Tuesday turns to ballet — the foundations underneath every style of dance we teach. AshleySimone Kirchner leads students through classical technique alongside modern and Horton work, building the alignment and control that carries into jazz, tap, and everything performed on our stages.

Right after Pilates comes the real work of storytelling. Musical Theatre Techniques is where students stop performing a song and start living inside it — connecting voice, movement, and acting so a number says something instead of just sounding good. Advanced students train with Chuck Kraus and AshleySimone Kirchner; intermediate students work with Lance Douglas and Gabi Bazinet Douglas.

Tuesday nights at the Academy start on the mat. Before there's a turn, a lift, or an eight-count that has to look effortless, there's the strength and control that make all of it possible — and that's what our Pilates class builds. AshleySimone Kirchner teaches this hour of mat-based core and body-awareness work, the first class in a full night of Tuesday training.
