Crazy but great day yesterday! The Arlene’s community is literally best for showing up and supporting everyone despite all day rain. I had a lot of really meaningful conversations about birds and hiking and art making. Also big thanks to the other makers who helped me with rain management (i.e. helping me stuff shower curtains along the top of my tent after it started dripping on my table full of paper products). It takes a village! Your creativity inspires me and your positivity kept me going 🙏❤️

Drying out and relaxing today. I don’t have any markets planned in the immediate future but I’ll be updating my website soon with some new art!

We had another great watercolor class today! We went over techniques to paint mini watercolors and learned how to approach reference photos in different ways. Everyone’s paintings came out SO good! It was a lovely afternoon being in community with each other ❤️ Thank you everyone that joined! 🎨 👩‍🎨

Had a great first watercolor workshop this past Sunday! We went over the basics and practiced different techniques to paint mini! It was a nice, relaxing afternoon being in community with each other.

Painting mini can help take the pressure off starting a painting or trying new technique! We had multiple pieces going at once and talked about strategies to turn reference photos into beautiful paintings!

Thanks to everyone who attended! Your excitement was contagious, especially about the wonders of scotch delicate surface tape! 😅

Had a lovely time yesterday winter makers market! Thanks to everyone that braved the frigid cold and blowing snow. I had a lot of great convos about the ADKs, Catskills, eels, and cardinals! Always nice to chat and catch up with the other artists as well ☺️ Most importantly thanks to for your hospitality and effort in putting this event together. It was a really nice day and the hot chocolate & scones were delicious! ❤️

I’ll walk you through painting mini polaroid landscapes. All are welcome - we’ll create multiple paintings in a relaxing and supportive environment. You’ll learn little tips and tricks to begin or improve your watercolor practice! No experience required and all materials will be provided.

I will have reference photos for you to use but you are welcome to bring a picture of your favorite nature scene as well!

Introducing! The American Eel!

When I first moved to the Hudson Valley, I fell in love with these adorable little eels. Their life cycle is fascinating - they come all the way from the Sargasso Sea (the middle of the ocean) and show up each spring looking like rice noodles with little eyes. Each phase of their life, they morph into different shapes and colors.

After living their lives in the freshwater streams connected to the Hudson, they make their way back to the ocean where they spawn and die. They are mysterious, wiggly, and resilient.

I’ve been doing a deep dive into eels this summer and I’ll be sharing each phase of their life cycle with you over the next several weeks!
