Alamosa Live Music Association

Alamosa Live Music Association Bringing quality live music to the San Luis Valley for over two decades!

MISSION

The Alamosa Live Music Association is a dynamic, non-profit community arts organization enriching the lives of artists, audiences, and the community; and fostering economic development and tourism by providing opportunities for cultural expression through music. HISTORY

In 2001, in response to a request from the City of Alamosa to put together an outdoor music series to enhance the quali

ty of life for the citizens in Alamosa and utilize their newly acquired stage, ALMA created Sundays at Six, a free summer concert series, which soon became Alamosa’s flagship program in terms of performing arts for the community. This partnership provides 7 to 9 shows per summer with an average of 300 people attending per concert. Additionally, ALMA offers year-round programming that reflects the region’s cultural diversity, appeals to all ages, collaborates significantly with music providers (Adams State University Music Department, Crestone Music Festival, Wildwood Sounds, and Boys & Girls Clubs) throughout the San Luis Valley. ALMA promotes talented local artists as well as nationally and internationally respected performers from U.S. music centers such as Nashville, New York City, and Los Angeles; and internationally from countries such as Ghana, Pakistan, Bhutan, Senegal, and Japan.

🎷It’s May! Or should we say, Matt May!🎷This month we’re highlight Matt, our sensational saxophoning board member! He has served on the board for almost eight years as Vice President, President, and now as a board member. We are so thankful for Matt’s passion for live music in the SLV and for everything he has done for ALMA and the community (including some of the smoothest sax solos you’ve ever heard!). In fact, as we prepare for Battle of the Bands on June 6th, did you know that it was Matt who presented the idea to the Board in 2018? Make sure to thank Matt when you attend Battle of the Bands next month!

If you went to see the World Famous Glenn Miller Orchestra last week (which you totally should have if not), this friendly face might look familiar. Not only is Bill an out-of-this-world MC, but he is a man of many talents. He is an exceptional artist, working in mediums like screen printing, photography, painting, sculpture, digital media, and mixed media. He has decades of experience working for different marketing agencies and design studios, and he taught in the Art Department for ASU for several years until 2024. He is also quite the wordsmith, writing both poetry and prose (and jokes, which you can often hear on stage at our events!).
He brings his robust expertise to the ALMA board; you’ve probably seen his posters and other marketing materials! We are so thankful for Bill and his passion for the arts and sharing art with his community, make sure you say hello next time you see him at an ALMA event!
