Thank You for Everything!
This is a post I never wanted to write. After almost three incredible years, The Studio will be
closing in June. Not because of financial struggles, not because Iâve lost passion for it, but
because life is calling me back home to Mississippi.
This decision is bittersweet. Owning this shop has been one of the most rewarding, eye-opening,
and life-changing experiences Iâve ever had. It wasnât just a business to me. It was a place for
musicians to gather, to ask questions, to experiment, to find their sound, and to feel heard. It was
a place for people who love music as much as I do. And now that itâs coming to an end, I just
want to say thank youâto every single person who walked through the door, picked up an
instrument, and shared a part of their journey with me.
Why I Started The Studio
I opened this store because I saw what was missing. Big music chains and online retailers made
it easy to buy gear, but they took away something importantâthe human connection. They took
away the experience of walking into a music store and actually learning something, of having
real conversations about gear, of being able to ask, âHey, which strings should I use?â or âWhy
does my guitar feel off?â and getting an answer from someone who genuinely cared.
I didnât want to just sell things. I wanted to help people. I wanted to build a space where
musicians felt comfortable, where there was no ego, no gatekeepingâjust pure passion for
music and a willingness to share knowledge. Every time someone came in with a problem, a
weird project, or even just to talk, I felt like I was doing something right.
And you all proved me right.
What This Store Has Meant to Me
I canât even begin to explain how much this store and this community have meant to me.
You werenât just customersâyou were friends,
fellow musicians, and part of something special. Whether it was helping someone find the right
pickups, doing setups for next to nothing just because I wanted everyone to have a guitar that
played well, or watching young musicians get their start through The Open Stage Project, every
single interaction meant the world to me.
Iâve seen people come in shy, unsure of themselves, afraid to call themselves musiciansâonly to
watch them grow, find their confidence, and start playing with pride. I saw you. I believed in
you. And I hope you believe in yourselves now, too.
Being behind the counter gave me a unique view of the local music scene. I saw a scene that
sometimes felt divided, but in reality, everyone wanted the same thingâto make music, to be
heard, to be part of something. You all have more in common than you think.
Whatâs Next?
Though The Studio is closing, my journey with music is far from over. Iâll still be playing, still
making music, still finding ways to stay involvedâjust in a new place, in whatever ways present
themselves. Mississippi is calling me home, and Iâm excited to see whatâs next.
One thing I do know is that I want to have one last show before I leave. I want to play with as
many of you as possible, to celebrate everything weâve built here, and to send The Studio off the
right way. If youâve ever wanted to jam, this will be the time. Iâll be posting more details soon,
so stay tuned.
A Final Ask: Support Local Music Stores
Even though The Studio is closing, local music shops still need your support. Thereâs a new
store in town called The Rockit Rocket, and I truly hope you all give them a chance. I know
Amazon is cheaper. I know itâs convenient. But there is something special about having a real
music store in your town, a place where musicians can gather, learn, and get real advice from
real people who care.
If this store has meant anything to you, pay it forward by supporting the next local shop. Keep
the music scene alive. Keep learning, keep experimenting, and keep making music.
Thank You
I donât have the words to fully express how grateful I am for all of you. Every conversation,
every lesson, every weird gear experimentâit has all been a gift. Youâve all helped me more
than I could have ever helped you, and I hope you know that.
If I could leave you with one final thought, itâs this: You are all incredible musicians, whether
you believe it or not. Sometimes, all it takes is someone to see you. I did.
Thank you for trusting me, for supporting this store, and for letting me be a small part of your
musical journey.
Your friendly neighborhood musician,
Bobby
