Chute Studio exists! Zach Clark and I combined resources and opened an autonomous space inside Kala Art Institute in Berkeley, CA. It’s wonderful to be able to print here after our plans got put on hold due to COVID. There’s so much we can do now that we have three machines printing more than 20 different ink colors in one space.

We would have thrown an opening party under different circumstances, but we will be hosting a virtual studio tour and printing demo with SF Zine Fest later this month - I’ll post the details when I have them.

What is your favorite part of the zine making process?
Printing. I have a background in genetics and infectious disease research, and printing is a lot like laboratory work: repetition, troubleshooting, complicated equipment. My favorite part is holding the final product in my hands.

How have you grown as an artist since you started making zines?
My art has grown the most through my contact with other artists. And zines are a great way to make meaningful connections with other artists and makers. I love trading! Come find me at EBABZ and let’s trade books.
