Project Rise

Over the weekend, we had the opportunity to visit the Coach House Theatre in West Akron for a wonderful production of “The Best Christmas Pageant Ever”. Director Cassandra Capocci was kind enough to collect community donations which allowed the theater to provide concessions and Christmas giveaways to the families in attendance. The tickets were purchased with funds from our PACT (Performing Arts Can Teach) funding from Akron Community Foundation. Thank you to Ms. Capocci and all who donated to make this an extra special evening for the families and students we serve!

We were asked to take over Coach House Theatre and received our keys on March 30. We told the AWCC that we'd finish the 90th season and then give them one full season after that. Well, the place was a disaster. The last guy left an unimaginable mess to clean up. We threw out a year’s worth of garbage the first weekend, put together two shows and saved the season. We won a couple of OCTA awards. We kept the theater open and announced a 91st Season. We rebuilt goodwill in the community, rebuilt goodwill with patrons, and got things moving in the right direction. And now we’re moving on. The President and the Board of the AWCC have decided that they want to go a different direction. Thanks to everyone who came and cleaned, painted, sorted, built, tore down, acted, ran crew, sang, danced, bought a ticket, sold a ticket, bought concessions, sold concessions, handed out a flyer, shared a post, liked a post, or told a friend over the last 10 months. We appreciate you. You all put the community in Community Theater, and we’re proud of the work we have done with all of you. If you have any questions or comments, you can find us both on Facebook.

Thank you to the cast, crew and audiences who helped to make The Best Christmas Pageant Ever such a success. Our audiences enjoyed the show, and we were able to do some good for the kids of Project Rise. Happy Holidays to all of you!
