June 5th is gun violence awareness day.

If you have met Uggla in person, then you have heard about "Guns to Garden tools" We partner with churches, nonprofits, peace organizations to turn anonymously surrendered guns into tools and jewlery that is then used in conjunction with the peace message of the event. We sell a few pieces so we do not ever have to ask for a fee and continue to support a mission we believe in. If you want to create a gun surrender event and have Uggla come out and work, drop us a line!

We love history and metalwork and you can read about both at a dig site in Senegal!

Because iron could be used in tools, it was a technical and social revolution, especially for agriculture.

The smell of coal burning is not common in lots of places anymore, Uggla's Wife never even interacted with coal until she cozied up with her favourite smith! But now? The smell of coal smoke means Uggla is happily working, listening to podcasts and HOME. The smell of charcoal burning means travel and visiting friends and adventures. It's funny what feelings attach to particular scents. We are traveling to the Ohio Viking Festival next! Fizz, the forge cat will be there! , Possum alas, will not, due to scheduling. But hammers will swing and anvils will ring!....ok not really, seriously, you can give yourself hearing damage if your anvil is too noisy. But that will have to be another post!

Its here! Its here! THE weekend of the season! And like any good NPCs , we are on the map! We are #3 sitting to the right of the Carousel, in the big green awning. And with the exception of Hi-Vis Fizz the Forge Cat (who will NOT be outdone by lions and tigers thank you very much!) The whole forge crew will be there! Wave to Uggla, and hiss at Possum bc its three days of hammering and hijinks!

Everything is back to normal and Uggla is in front of the camera again! But just like last time hes still building for the Akron Zoo ren faire! We cant wait to see you there, find us by the Carousel!

Uggla changed things up and took pictures of his Wife in the forge instead, but why you say? Because hes getting ready to bring the forge to the Akron Zoo!!! We will be bri ging the hammers, some new terrible dad jokes, and silly trivial while we make some noise!

Well Uggla is getting packed up for a festival and we know that swinging a hammer makes you very thirsty! So a fan sent Uggla a gift, a 24 oz drinking horn! Uggla's wife (who knows that EVERY insect at a festival finds your open cup!)was clever enough to find a cover that fits it and now he is brushing off his tip jar so he can keep it filled with tasty mead!! Big thank you to our Owlets who take such good care of Uggla!

Well we just finished a set of copper and steel lantern hooks to match a fire pit tripod, customer pleased and all is well......so of course, we forgot to take any pictures! So enjoy a judgy picture of Fizz the forge cat and her little sibling "Sauce "
