And just like that, it’s time for fall High School Sports! And that means Senior Banners! And more Banners! We create and print everything here at the lab. We’ll do about 300 to 400 Banners just for this fall sports season. Fortunate to be doing them for many of the high schools in and around the area. Pretty impressive and fun to watch when they come off the production line.

Photo Restoration by Halamay Color Imaging---Final Product!
Today, technology has helped us in many ways to produce some of the finest restorations we’ve ever done. Here is our latest example of the work that we are doing. The work is tedious and time consuming, but results can be pretty amazing. Co-worker Mark Hershberger and I work on all restorations together. We discuss each project with every customer so we understand what they expect for the final product. We then scan, crop, and correct the image for color, contrast, and density. Mark will do the tedious work on the restoration and then I will review and make additional corrections before it goes to print. The main thing is we always try to keep the Integrity of the original image. It’s always a team effort. And I think this restoration turned quite well. Hopefully, the customer will too!

This original photo that dates back over 100 yrs. ago was brought to us for restoration. After taking a good look at the extensive damage that was caused by time, I wasn’t sure if we were able restore this keepsake to resemble anything close to what it looked like back when it was taken. It would take hours of retouching to bring it back to something even close to the original. The customer insisted that it was important to their family and that we do what we could to restore it as best as possible. We agreed upon a price and time frame and started to get to work on it right away. I spoke with my co-worker, Mark Hershberger who’s a photoshop Wiz and asked him what he thought. He just kinda looked at me for a while and said, “let’s give it a shot!” Mark and I work as a team with most projects. He scans and preps the original while I then crop and prepare the proper aspect ratio for the final print size. For this job he did the most tedious work which took quite a while. He has the patience, and I don’t but that’s what youth will give you sometimes. Once he got as far as he could I put the final touches on the image. What’s cool is how we fixed the bottom and added shoes and drop shadows to give it depth. We added the cane on the left and had to create a face of the lady on the right. I say it turned out pretty well. And there’s always a story for every photo. We were told that after the photo was taken the women on the left, who was married to the man in the middle took the photo and put a knife to the face of the women on the right after she found out that she was her husband’s mistress. And that’s why we had to add the face! There’s always a story…
