So, to give everyone an idea of what we do. We create wood burned art from your photographs that are special to you, or just even a photograph you really enjoy. This is known as Pyrography, and there are different forms of it but ours is unique in its own way. We do any kind of photo you want, from selfies, to weddings, to memorial photos and so much more. Any photo that is special to you, is special to us.
A quick summary of our process and why our prices (listed at the bottom) are what they are, so you know the work and time we put into everything.
1. Ordering the wood by specific size as we do not cut and create our own wood. The wood used is Baltic Birch and sits roughly 3mm thick. Its sturdier than you think, i.e., you have to put a little effort to break them, plus it works with our machine.
2. Prepping. We spend between 1-3 hours sanding all the wood ordered. After this, we then do a baking soda bath, which can take roughly 1-2 hours to complete with an addition 4–6-hour dry time. We then use an industrial grade hydrogen peroxide solution to lighten the wood, this takes about 2-3 because we have to be especially careful due to risk of chemical burns and chemical spill, so we take our time with this process. The dry time for this is roughly 7-10 days for best results.
3. We then make ads, posts, reach out and look for people interested in what we do. When someone is ready to make a purchase, we request your photo and size that you would like (we can help suggest based on the photo) and set up payment. Once payment is made, we will edit the photo, this can take 30 minutes to several hours depending on the photo, we will always check with you before major edits are done, but it's usually just a little cropping and photo touch ups. You have the option to be surprised or we can send you updates alone the way for your photo.
4. So the editing has been finished, we now sand the wood again, just to get any "wood fuzz" off from the prepping process and make the board smooth for better quality burning, then we begin the burning process. Depending on the size of your photo, the detail of the photo, burning can take anywhere between 1-6 hours to create your photo.
5. So your photo was successfully burnt, and we are satisfied with the results, as well are you if you chose to be updated, we will now burn a border on the photo as we do with all photos, it makes them look nicer. This usually takes about 5 to 10 minutes.
6. So your photo has been prepped, edited, burned, has a border and now we coat it with a clear gloss polyurethane spray. This helps protect it but makes it shine a little. We recommend about 3-5 days drying just to make sure it's entirely dry for shipping. If we ship while the coating is still wet, it can cause the coating to peel and make the photo look damaged and we do our best to make sure every photo has the best quality we can give it possible.
7. Now that everything IS complete, we will reach back out to you if you haven't given us your shipping information upon payment, and receive that from you, otherwise we will reach out to you and let you know we have shipped your photo and send you the tracking number. Most orders once shipped will be there within 3 days. We pay for the shipping, so we don't charge you extra or tax, our prices are exactly what your see!
