The participants will begin with an exploration the life and acting styles of William Shakespeare, then applying this knowledge in working on Shakespearian scenes. Participants will learn text analysis, vocabulary, stage movement, and combat techniques as they prepare to present their scenes.

Final show at 2pm (today) of Lit Live’s “The Diary of Anne Frank” at P101...then they’re off to Simi Valley.

IT’S OPENING NIGHT!!!!!!!!!!

Let’s meet the final members of the cast...

KAREN MEIRA DEFAZIO (Aunt M.J, the Nurse character) is excited to be part of "The R&J Project". When not performing on stage, she is teaching Deaf/Hard of Hearing students and enjoys seeing them grow and find their places in the world. She thanks her family and teachers for all of their support on and off the stage. She encourages all to live by the quote "Why fit in when you were born to stand out" -Dr. Suess.

JOSHUA DELMAN (Aaron, a compilation of multiple R&J characters) His performing debut was doing pratfalls in his kindergarten classroom. The roles he's most proud of recently are Ferris Layman (The Diviners) and Herr Schultz (Cabaret).

COLIN MCCARTY (Wallace, the Benvolio character) is 18, and a senior at Oak park High School. He is excited and honored to be a part of the R&J Project, his 7th show with Jeff.

HANNAH QUINN (Denise, an amalgamation of R&J characters) is a theatre major at Pierce College. This is her first production on the mainstage at Playhouse 101. Recent credits include “Antigone” (Choragos) and “The Tempest” (Antonio). Thanks to Jeff and the writers.

PEDRO ARMENDARIZ (Toby, the Romeo character) is excited to be a part of this wonderful cast. Having mostly been involved with technical theatre, he is ready to take the stage and bring this vision to life!

Opening Night is Thursday April 5 at 8pm and plays 4/6 at 8pm and 4/7 at 2pm and 8pm.

Meet the parents...

CANDACE GRAY (Mrs. Monroe, the Lady Capulet character) is excited to be back on stage, some of Candace’s memorable shows include: “Man of La Mancha”, “Pippin”, “...Forum”, “Chicago”, and “West Side Story”. She has also performed stunts for Disney, Universal, and multiply TV shows. In addition, Candace also serves as the show’s Fight Choreographer.

MARY COMSTOCK (Mrs. O’Malley, the Lady Montague character) is a seasoned performer specializing in improvisation, having performed with many teams and companies throughout Los Angeles. Mary was recently seen in Playhouse 101’s production of “Bleacher Bums”.

PAUL CARPENTER (Mr. Monroe, the Lord Capulet character) is a local writer and actor, is honored to help the talented authors of R&J bring their creation to life. He thanks them, plus castmates and director Jeff Wallach, for this opportunity.

Meet the Writers!

ISABELLE DELMAN has been writing since she was eight years old and has been a playwright since she wrote her fifth grade play. She's also a little too interested in wacky Shakespeare concepts. In addition to being a member of our writing team, Isabelle will also serve as the production’s Stage Manager.

SAGE LIEBOWITZ is a freshman at Santa Susana High School studying Theatre. She currently played Miranda in CCYT’s most recent production of Shakespeare’s “The Tempest.” Being one of the writers of “The R & J Project,” she is extremely proud to see it up on its feet and hopes that you all enjoy the show! In addition to being a member of our writing team, Sage will also play the role of Charlotte (the Juliet character).

MATT LIEBOWITZ is an old guard theatre kid turned college cruncher still reliving the good old days in this show. Some highlights from his acting career included playing the Baker in “Into the Woods” and Bottom “...Midsummer’s...”. In addition to being a member of our writing team, Matt will also play the role of Richie (The Tybalt character).

The Writer’s Program is under the direction of KEVIN REPICH.
