Hi, I’m Katie. I’m the owner of Grit & Grog Clay, and today I want to share something deeply personal with you all.
As a veteran, I carry the invisible weight of PTSD from my time in the military. Some days that weight is manageable, and other days it is incredibly heavy. Over Memorial Day weekend, that weight became too much, and I survived a su***de attempt.
I am sharing this not for sympathy, but for transparency. I want you to know the person behind the studio, and I want you to understand the heart of our mission here. Grit & Grog isn’t just a place to make pottery; it’s a space built for healing, for community, and for finding peace when the world feels too loud. Working with clay has been a lifeline for me — a way to ground myself and process what I’m feeling when words aren’t enough.
If you are struggling, please know you are not alone. There is space for you here, exactly as you are. Whether you need a quiet corner to throw clay or a community to lean on, our doors are open.
