"Crossing the Snake River"

This stunning painting is set at a famous stretch known as "The Elbow" on the Snake River, just south of Jackson Hole, Wyoming. It highlights a group of cowboys carefully driving a herd across the water during the autumn months, which is one of the few times of year the river runs low enough to safely ford on horseback. We think our Dad perfectly highlights the crisp fall air, the reflection on the water, and the rugged terrain of the high country.

Stalking big game with a bow requires stealth, know-how and patience. These Shoshoni hunters were very good at what they did. They were accurate archers and a well-placed arrow in the lungs of a large animal could bring them down within a minute or two. I can say from experience that elk meat is delicious and nutritious. A beautiful stream that passes through many miles of grasslands and cattle pastures. This particular scene depicts a friend of mine after he has set the hook on the nice cutthroat trout.

The countdown to the CA's biggest event of the year continues! As a reminder, the show is one month earlier than usual this year—occurring October 2–3 at our brand-new location: The Legacy Building at National Western in Denver, Colorado.

Our dad has been completely immersed in his studio the last several months preparing his new paintings for the exhibition. Here is a preview of one of the oil paintings he will have in the show.
