All aboard the Polar Express Storytime Train! Take this exciting train ride based on the book The Polar Express by Chris Van Allsburg. Registration opens on Monday, October 26th at 9:00 AM. Pre-registration is required and space is limited.❄☕

A storyteller will be on the train to narrate this story while children and their parents enjoy chocolate milk, cookies, and a snowball fight on the way back from the North Pole. When we reach the North Pole, we will find Santa Claus and bring him back to Addison with us on the train. Families are encouraged to wear their pajamas and bring their holiday spirit! A parent or guardian must accompany all children. Children age 9 months or younger do not need to be registered.

The Addison Park District is participating in the 2026 SCARCE Pumpkin Smash! Join us on Sunday, November 8th between noon and 2 p.m. at Links & Tees Golf Facility to participate by smashing your pumpkin.🎃

The Pumpkin Smash is an annual effort by communities to divert pumpkins from landfills by providing locations for residents to drop-off jack-o-lanterns to be composted. If you can’t make it during that time, the composting receptacle provided by Republic Services, will be available to accept your pumpkins until the next day, Monday, November 9th.

Registration is OPEN for the Youth Basketball League! Please register early, as we have to form the teams. For younger players, co-ed teams will be created by Park District staff. Games will be played on Saturdays at Centennial Gym. Player requests are not guaranteed. The season runs from January - March. Register at addisonparks.org, at the Front Desk of Centennial or Community Rec Centers, or by phone at (630)233-7275, option 3.

Thank you to Miss Willis and Mrs. Molina at Lake Park Elementary School who coordinated our on-going project with the Kiwanis Club of Addison, IL to decorate trash cans for our parks. Today, the club "Nature Nerds" stepped up and helped decorate the first of 2 trash cans, which will be placed at Lake Manor Nature Preserve. Over the next 2 days, Student Council and Safety Patrol will get a chance to decorate the cans with their handprints.
